P.J. Whelihan's Pub + Restaurant - Maple Shade 396 S Lenola Rd, Maple Shade Township, New Jersey, 08052
"On 6.20.20 we ordered food for 630 pm at aprox 5pm using the curb side option and gave a description of the car. I arrived at the Maple Shade store at 6:19. There was no curb side pick up. I parked up on the hill. The old curb side pick up area was closed and made into outside dining. I called the store to inquire if the food was ready by chance and the curbside details. A lady answered and seemed fustrated and said I dont know we are really busy. I was put on hold and then told no its not ready just come in a bit. I patiently waited till 630 our scheduled time. I then walked down the hill and into the store. I asked again and i was told to wait over there and pointed to a corner inside the store. So i sat like everyone else who looked confused with the "curb side pickup". At 643 pm it was ready and I left. When I got home we found that they never included the soda. I called the store and a Anthony answered. I explained and I was told oops our bad just come back. I said thats just great you forgot and now I have drive 12 minutes there and park and walk down the hill to be told to wait in the corner for somebody to figure it out to then drive 12 minutes back to cold food whats the point? He said we will take it off and hung up on me. I called back to have him explain what exactly and why did he hang up. He hit me back with sarcasm so i asked for a manager. He said he was a manager. I then asked for a DM. He said hold please. Another guy maybe mike answered when i asked about the hang up he said he supported his guy 100 % and I was wrong and they were right. I asked for his name to be sure and he said he already said it and finished with we are taking the soda off and hung up. First we have been eating there for 20 years and second why do we have to explain to our kids the phone call and no soda. Nobody hangs up on customers. More over twice. I didnt make a mistake you people did. Finally where is your drive up curb side area ? To say will we eat there again Im not so sure. Theres no shortage of places to eat who have their house in order more over ones who show compassion when making mistakes. If I did that at my job I'd be collecting like the other 1/3 of the...
Read moreP.J. Whelihan's Pub +Restaurant is one of the few locations in Burlington County that currently offers outdoor dining. A reservation is not required. They blocked off one entrance so all traffic filters into a large parking area. This allows for the outdoor dining not only in the front of the building but along the side. While the front dining is more shaded, seating along the side is picnic like, spaced apart with umbrellas. You'll need to walk down the steps in order to be seated. We arrived at 12:30 and they were already busy. We didn't wait long, no more than 10 minutes. You're provided with a paper menu but if you want to save your server time you can view the menu online before going. I ordered their lemonade which I don't usually like unless it's pink. It was really good, not overly sweet like most. The crispy part of the Buffalo Brussels sprouts was phenomenal and only made better when dipped in the buffalo ranch sauce. Due to the large size of some of the brussels sprouts I found the inside of some slightly chewy. As a vegetarian I ordered a grilled cheese with tomato. You get your choice of wheat, white, or rye. It was really tasty. I know they're known for wings but I wish they had more vegetarian options on the menu. The other party at my table ordered a cheeseburger with tator tots. They said it was a really good cheeseburger. If you want condiments you need to ask for them. As busy as they were service was exceptional and they don't make you feel rushed. Try and tip more than 20% if you can and get there early if you're not willing to wait. There was a really long wait...
Read moreOn 08/24 at approximately 6:09 p.m. I finished an order of wings. I placed a second order of wings and asked to close out as well. When I was given the receipt tab, I noticed the wings were full priced. I asked why, and the bartender stated that the promotion only ran until 6 p.m. I apologized for the error and asked to cancel the order, as I had placed the order only a minute prior. The bartender immediately said “you gotta be kidding me.” And aggressively snatched the receipt from my hand then stormed off. She snatched it so aggressively that both the party I was with and bystanders seated nearby were in shock and asked what happened. The bartender returned and threw the receipt at me. I asked why she snatched the initial receipt, and the bartender said she didn’t snatch anything. At this point I didn’t feel comfortable handing the bartender my charge card. I looked for a nearby manager and explained what happened. He said he would speak with the bartender. I paid my tab and left. I understand bartenders deal with a great amount of stress, but I can attest that I was nothing but polite. The way she handled a very basic encounter was so unappealing, aggressive and nasty that I feel uncomfortable even returning. I feel like my complaint went unheard, and the bartender was smirking the entire time. I don’t wish to name the bartender, but the male manager I spoke with should be able to explain the situation as well. I’m overall just disappointed in the experience and hope that her actions can be coached into providing a better customer experience for the...
