Don't sleep on Mr. Taco! I've driven passed a countless number of times, and I finally decided to stop in and see what they were about, and let me tell y'all - they did NOT disappoint! I have a lengthy review so here we go: Let's start with the customer service. Every person was greeted immediately with a smile, every person was checked on regularly, the wait for your food is timely, if you need for anything the waitresses move quickly, and they check you out with a smile! At no point did either waitress seem annoyed or irritable by a single thing or person. The food was overall really good. I started with the chips and salsa, which they were doing a taste test for and wanted your opinion for the new recipe of salsa vs their old one. I have to say, both were delicious and I literally couldn't pick! I told her to serve both and increase the price of the appetizer because they would both be devoured and sell easily. One is chilled and one is warmed, both packed with flavor. Not to mention their chips are homemade & well salted (that's exactly how I like it!) I ordered the Mr. Taco fajitas and idk who I thought I was but it comes with chicken, shrimp, beef, and pork (I believe) along with your regular fajita mixings (onion & peppers, pico, sour cream, guac, lettuce) and of course a side of rice and beans. You could tell the guac had been sitting so unfortunately after the first 2 bites I really couldn't eat anymore of it, it turned brown very fast. And if I'm being brutally honest, the rice was awful. It tasted old and dry, 0 flavor. I'm going off a limb and guessing maybe they just had a bad batch because everything else was great! Though I didn't eat the beans I did taste them and they were pretty good. Well seasoned, good texture. Whatever marinade they use for the pork is so damn good, it has a sweetness to it that compliments the fire roasted flavors of the overall dish. The shrimp itself had no flavor BUT it's not a deal breaker being that you're working with so many different flavors in the one dish. They brought out 3 salsas for the fajitas (I forgot to ask which was which) but the orangish one was crazy hot, it tastes good, but I personally didn't prefer it with this dish specifically. There was also a bright green one (maybe an avocado crema? ) It had a kick and was pretty good but my fave was their green salsa (house made salsa Verde?) Which also had some sort of sweet kick to it that helped to balance all the flavors you're working with. I was so full after a few bites I couldn't properly enjoy my Long Island Ice Tea which was also very tasty, one of the best I've had in years! (Side note, because of how long I was taking to finish my drink I ended up talking with one of the waitresses for a long while, she's just the sweetest thing ever! Seriously, customer service exceeds expectations!) As far as atmosphere goes, it's a small restaurant but they have booth and table options, 2 tvs, and a small bar area (like 5 seats). It's cozy, perfect for your small group of friends or a quick date. I wish they were open just a tad bit later but they would need business to pickup for that. So like I said, DONT SLEEP ON MR TACO! They have great people serving you great food! Did I mention they have a daily happy hour? I'll be a returning...
Read moreMe & my husband are regular here. i absolutely love the food here & the customer service! Me & my husband eat here ever other weekend. there’s nothing bad I can say about the food or atmosphere! I just wish people can not be so hard on the waiters. There’s this waiter in particular that me & my husband Always request for. She goes by the name rain & I have never met such a young strong leader who can run everything at once with no help. There has been a couple times where we would eat there during busier hours and they always seem short staff. I realize it’s only two waiters for the whole restaurant. I would watch rain handle more then 5+tables , making drinks & doing orders To-go & handling phone calls orders all at once ! she’s never seems to get annoyed with anybody & greats each customer with good energy & a pretty smile :) no matter how rude they can be to her. She’s very professional and can handle situations very graceful . After a while she got to know our names & can remember our “regular orders” & I love that. The restaurant is also very clean. I want to say thank you for the waiters for their hard work ! Please be kind to them, there’s only so much they can...
Read moreWe dined in and had a pleasant time. The portions were huge. The papusas are delicious. My husband got a large taco birria. At other places you get 3 little tacos. we were told it was going to be big but we were not prepared for the 21inch monster corn taco that we got! It is definitely enough for 2-3 people to share. I got a deep fried burrito. I could only eat 40% if it.
The waitress was so friendly and nice. She explained things that we didn't understand, and the chipotle chicken I got at her recommendation was wonderful! Don't worry Midwestern people--not spicy! even though the word chipotle is in there! I promise not spicy. For all the Minnesotans who think ketchup is spicy, there is plenty of cheesy-non-spicy goodness to enjoy here. I recommend the papusas, deep fried burritos, and birria tacos!
There are booths and tables. The TV was playing a sports game while we were there. Entering the restaurant will be a little awkward with a wheelchair because the front door opens to two businesses, but once inside there is room for wheelchairs.
We ate so much, and it was so delicious. Mr. Taco is going into our...
