A month ago I stopped into the Red Wing, Maplewood, MN store to purchase a women's work boot. Scott, greeted me instantly and helped me feel welcomed. He took the time to listen to what I needed in a boot and had vast knowledge in figuring out how best to fit my wide toe box, yet narrow heeled feet. Scott, was also training a new employee that day and managed to take care of other customers as I tried on various boots. Scott represents the company better than I have ever encountered at any other boot store, to include other various Red Wing stores. The customer service he showed really resonated with me and I have been telling folks to head to Red Wing in Maplewood for their boot needs. Now, in the end, the boot was not a good fit for me and Scott processed the 30 day comfort guarantee effortlessly and without question. The wide boot in a women's size 8 was not wide enough for my feet. I did leave a review with Red Wing manufacturers' on possibly updating their template for a women's wide foot size range. There are many women who run and hike, their toe boxes get wider with that activity, yet the heels stay more narrow. Overall, I am fortunate to have had Scott help me through the process. Thank you Scott! I sure hope your dedication is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJust to start this off right I don't like this Red Wing shoe store.
The first thing you'll hear when entering the empty store is the Jesus music the owner is blasting. Strike one.
Their selection is very minimal, which I would attribute to the fact that this particular store/owner is under contract with several local public sector agencies to dispense safety toe boots as per their respected voucher systems. Basically, if you see a style of Red Wing boot you like online they, more likely than not, don't have them.
If you're wondering how a place like this stays in business; where the owner sits around making fishing lures all day, comes off as a really pushy know-it-all, and will try to convince you to get something that you probably don't want all the while pushing his right-wing agenda that the foreign/Asian made boots are of superior quality to the USA made boots; it's because of the public sector contracts, which he will likely brag about.
If you're spending your own money look elsewhere; even if you're spending a voucher that your union fought for you to get I'd still look elsewhere. I will be doing so my next...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been coming to this specific Red Wing location for years. When you find a place that takes care of you, and offers a top-tier product, itās easy not to wander. The space isnāt huge, but it doesnāt need to be. The selection is great and theyāll definitely have something to suit your needs. Upon walking in I was immediately greeted by the store manager, Marcus. After a couple of quick foot scans to measure foot size and stride, I was left alone to check out the products. He didnāt hover like a high pressure salesman breathing on my shoulder, but he was close enough to answer questions if needed. I tried on a couple different styles, in a couple different sizes, and never once was I made to feel like I was being an inconvenience. All these seemingly small things add up to a refreshing experience. I ended up leaving the store today empty handed to mull over my final decision. Thereās a really good chance that even if I find the same boot for less online, Iāll be coming back here to spend my money. Theyāve more...
