Horrible experience – extremely rude and unprofessional! I asked for an iced white chocolate latte, and he snapped back, “That’s not a latte,” then continued to be rude the entire interaction. I chose not to tip after such poor customer service, and he actually got angry, saying, “We’ll make your order, but never come back here!” As a coffee shop owner myself, I would never treat a customer this way. This owner clearly doesn’t know how to run a business. I’m not one to write reviews, but this was necessary so others can see the type of person running this place.
I also own a home here in Marathon and was checking out different coffee spots—I HIGHLY recommend Gorgie’s! They have the best coffee in town and treat customers with genuine kindness.
UPDATE TO THIS REVIEW REPLY Since you’re saying I came in with an attitude, I want to clarify that I absolutely did not. I greeted you when I walked in, then looked for your menu—which I couldn’t find at first since it was laying on the side of the counter. After finding it, I placed my order — and the first thing out of your mouth was, “That’s not a latte, it’s a mocha” — with the biggest attitude. I was honestly so caught off guard by how much attitude you gave me that I was still processing it when you started talking about the cup size. My husband was just as surprised and ended up ordering the same thing simply because we both didn’t know what else to say at that point.
The attitude didn’t come from us — in fact, it was noticeable enough that someone from your own store came outside to tell us they overheard it.
Funny enough, my brother and his wife had stopped by about 30 minutes before we did. He told me your employee was polite and welcoming to him… but that you didn’t say a single word to anyone when walking inside and had an attitude. As a owner I would expect a hello or welcome but nothing was said when we walked in!
My husband and I visit a lot of coffee shops — we genuinely enjoy trying new spots and having a good cup of coffee. But we most definitely did not feel welcome at yours. We are actually regulars at Georgie’s and feel very welcomed! You can defend and twist the story all you want, but that’s not how it happened. If you’re saying we’re being untruthful, I think you should rethink that — or better yet, review your own camera footage since you’re so confident about how you claim it went.
And no, I don’t need to prove I own a coffee shop — but since you’re so curious, I’ll happily share that I’ll be opening my third location in...

This was not only the worst coffee experience I’ve ever had but also the worst customer service by far. From the moment we walked in, we immediately felt unwelcome—no greeting, no “hi,” no “welcome.”
My wife ordered a white chocolate mocha but, being tired, she accidentally said “latte” instead of “mocha.” The guy at the register snapped back, “So actually a mocha,” in the most condescending tone I’ve ever heard. When she asked for a large size, he responded with, “Are you sure you want a large?” while looking her up and down.
When I ordered the same drink, he let out a heavy sigh. Because of his rudeness, we chose not to leave a tip. He noticed and then told us, “I am going to make the drinks, but after you will get out and never come back.”
Both my wife and I are calm, easygoing people who did absolutely nothing to deserve such treatment. We mentioned how cozy the atmosphere was, but we were met only with cold, blank stares.
To top it off, the coffee itself was disappointing — tasting mostly like milk. We own a coffee shop ourselves up north, and God forbid we ever serve a product or deliver service remotely like this.

Read moreNot exactly sure how this place gets a 4.8. Most places in the keys have higher ratings than they should. This is one of those places. The service is good. The man at the counter is friendly. I enjoy seeing the cats, but there’s cat food laying around in the kitchen area, and by the book shelves. Some of the shelves are almost completely bare, and not organized. The overall feel inside the restaurant is old and outdated, almost a convenience store vibe with all the snacks for sale. I will say, the cinnamon rolls were the best thing we got (run of the mill cinnamon roll). I got a banana strawberry smoothie with fresh banana and it had added sugar in it. I don’t know if the fruit was sweetened, the yogurt I had asked to be put in it (since I got it cultured) or what, but it was very sweet. Fruit with yogurt isn’t that sweet naturally. My husband got a mocha, and it was bad. The espresso was clearly burnt.
The service was quick, and friendly, and everything is pretty affordable, so I will give them that.
I personally am driving to a different coffee shop to get something else. I’d recommend Georgie’s or other breakfast places in the area, and you can pass...
