I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at the Margate Culver’s.
To give some background, I had originally received a coupon for a free value basket from a Culver’s location in Georgia. This was given to me by a manager there after I waited in the drive-thru for my food for over 45 minutes. When he gave me the coupon, he assured me I could redeem it at any Florida location since that is where I live and he was extremely for my experience.
Yesterday, I went to the Margate location to use that coupon. I ordered my value basket exactly as I had at the previous location including a gluten-free bun due to dietary needs. However, when I went to redeem the coupon, I was told I would need to pay extra for the gluten-free bun.
This was completely inconsistent with my original experience. At the Georgia location, the gluten-free bun was included in the value basket with no extra charge, because that was the meal I had originally purchased. The purpose of the coupon was to replace that meal, not to make me pay extra for a dietary accommodation.
When I addressed this with the assistant manager, Jalasia, I was met with an unprofessional and dismissive attitude. Rather than discussing the situation with me, she abruptly slammed the drive-thru sliding door and had another employee come to the window. That employee then told me I couldn’t use the coupon at all because it wasn’t issued by their location — something Jalasia never mentioned in the first place.
I later called corporate to report the incident, and later that evening (8:30 PM— super unprofessional) another manager from the Margate location called me. Instead of offering any apology for my poor experience, he simply repeated that I could not use the coupon there. The tone was curt, and there was zero acknowledgment of the unprofessional conduct or the lack of clarity from the staff earlier in the day.
Culver’s prides itself on quality and customer service, but this visit highlighted serious issues with consistency, professionalism, and basic courtesy. Staff should be trained to handle customer concerns respectfully, not by slamming windows, passing the issue to someone else, or calling late at night without offering so much as an apology.
This experience has left me questioning whether I will return to this location at all. I hope corporate takes these complaints seriously, as this kind of treatment drives away...
Read moreMay 5, 2024 We returned again because someone gave us a gift card so we figured we give it another shot. Among other things we ordered a single butter burger and the employee rang up a double and we had to correct him. We also ordered a small side salad, and when the food arrived at our table the salad was missing, so the person went to go get it and brought us back a chicken salad. We informed him that was not what we had ordered but it should be a small side salad so he went and got us one of those. While we were eating I happened to notice that the ticket from the kitchen said chicken salad even though that is not what we ordered, so I checked the receipt and we have been charged for the full size garden salad. So I ended up going back to the counter and asking for the difference and they refunded the entire salad. The food was OK, but certainly not worth the money that you pay at this place. We noticed that there were a lot of employees there, but we also noted that many of the booths that we tried to sit at were not clean. We also saw that the lights in the ceiling were extremely dusty. We ended with some chocolate custard which once again was the highlight, but still not that great.
Original review from 2022: Our first ever experience at a Culver’s will likely be our last. We were overcharged for a gluten free bun and the manager said the menu was wrong, but didn’t offer to make it right. The bun came wrapped separately so we had to assemble our own burger at the table! We ordered a supreme chili but got charged for and received a plain chili. As for the food quality, I would say the burger tasted a lot like Wendy’s. The chili was ok but had a strange aftertaste. Definitely nothing special. The ice cream was good though. We enjoyed that the most. Bottom line is that there are so many places competing for our business and this place definitely fell short in making us feel like we’d ever want to go out of our way to eat...
Read moreAbsolutely horrid experience. I went to this Culvers on July 19th 2024 at 12:13 pm, the line initially when I arrived was quite long however I thought nothing of it as it moved along quickly, the young man at the front being very polite and concise at the register. This is unfortunately where any good I have to say ends. I had gone there with my boss for lunch and we had ordered separately, after roughly 25 minutes his order finally came out, 15 minutes later I got to talking with another older couple saying they had been waiting 45 minutes and hadn't gotten a single item, of course they left shortly after. After another 20 or so minutes of waiting my boss finally left as he needed to get home, at this point it had been over 50 minutes so I went to the front where people were gathered, probably about 20-30 people trying to scramble and ask about their food. Several people who ordered way after me were served, and yet I was left to sit as the mood worsened and people got more irritated; finally after over an hour and 10 minutes, at 1:26 I finally decided enough was enough as I hadn't gotten anything I ordered (pub burger, pretzel bites, and a hot fudge sundae) and needed to get back to work. Thankfully, the lady at the front scrambling to get orders together was very fast with a refund and although I feel for the workers in the kitchen and the poor workers at the front dealing directly with a mob of 30 or so people, an wait time of over an hour at a fast food place is ridiculous, and at some point you've got to say enough is enough and get your orders straight as I saw the system, you can see the time orders were placed. I wish the workers there all the best, but I expect more from a restaurant like this, especially one so beloved by the local community. Hopefully, if I ever do decide to give Culver's another chance, they do...
