The only reason this place gets any business is because there is no other place to go at night other than a couple fast food drive throughs.
I'm here right now and just a minute ago I walked up to the server station and in almost submissive fashion I asked for a paper towel to wipe my hands and Nicki DIDNT EVEN LOOK UP FROM HER PHONE as she handed me some napkins.
I mean there was no acknowledgment what so ever! I've experienced so much of this type of behavior here. Any time me or/and my family decide to go to the Marion Steak and Shake we make sure to step inside and look for Rick (a waiter).
If Rick isn't working we leave. Rick represents the place very well and is the only reason we continue to visit. Not only does he acknowledge us but does so with a smile.
The man takes pride in his job and makes it very obvious that he values the customer. Even when Rick's section is full its always clean, every drink is kept full, and empty plates are promptly cleared.
About a month ago we went and were hungry so we went ahead and stayed even though Rick wasn't available to take care of yourself. The restaurant was less than 1/3 full and we counted 6 waitresses working that day.
We sat there for 18 minutes without anyone coming up to talk to us or take our order. We never even spoke to a waitress other than the one that sat us down. Waitresses were walking all around us and never even bothered to look our way even when one of them casually came over to the table next to us clean it off.
BTW the people sitting there had been gone since we came in. We looked around waiting for someone to take our order and counted 3 of the 6 waitresses behind their station with their heads down.
I can only assume they were glued to their cellphones. Finally we had enough and while walking out I quietly voiced my concern with the manager. The manager looked like his pants were 3 sizes too big as they sagged about 6 inches below his waist.
An excuse could be made for his dirty shirt and messy appearance because he had probably worked a long shift in the kitchen but no excuse can be made for is managing skills. He told me he had only recently taken over at that location as manager and instead of admitting the blatent disregard for customer service he had excuses for everything.
One of which being that 2 of the 6 waitresses I mentioned working were already cut and cleaning up their sections to go home. I don't usually complain, almost never because I've worked in places like this before and know how hard it can be. I do everything I can to make excuses for food quality, customer service, etc but no excuses can be made here.
These are just a couple examples of how terrible that place has become. Every single time I've visited recently its awful bit at least the customer service part of the place is good when Rick is working. I hope things improve at this steak and shake in the future. It has potential but not until major improvements are made concerning hiring.
Attitude is everything! At least hire more employees that care about not only their reputation but also the...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Steak 'n Shake, and I must say, it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the stage for an exceptional dining adventure.
The restaurant's ambiance was delightful, with comfortable seating arrangements and a vibrant décor that created a cheerful and relaxed environment. The cleanliness and attention to detail were impressive, reflecting the restaurant's commitment to maintaining high standards.
The management and staff at Steak 'n Shake were absolutely fantastic. The level of professionalism, friendliness, and attentiveness displayed by the entire team was remarkable. They greeted customers with genuine smiles and made sure that everyone felt welcome and well taken care of throughout their visit. It was evident that customer satisfaction was a top priority for the restaurant, and it made a significant difference in the overall experience.
Now, let's talk about the food. The menu at Steak 'n Shake offered an excellent variety of options, catering to different taste preferences. Their signature steakburgers were juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The quality of the ingredients was evident in every bite. The restaurant also offers a range of delectable milkshakes, and I must say, they were absolutely divine! Creamy, thick, and bursting with flavor, the shakes were a delightful treat that perfectly complemented the meal.
The speed and efficiency with which the food was delivered to our table were impressive. Despite the restaurant's popularity, the staff managed to maintain a smooth and timely service, ensuring that our orders arrived promptly and piping hot.
Overall, my experience at Steak 'n Shake was nothing short of outstanding. The restaurant's great atmosphere, impeccable management, and friendly staff contributed to a memorable dining experience. If you're looking for a place that combines delicious food, a welcoming ambiance, and exceptional service, I highly recommend giving Steak 'n Shake a try. It's a true gem in the...
Read moreThis has been one of our favorite places to eat but lately the service has been getting worse and worse. One of the last times we went there the girls were complaining about co-workers and what they we were having to do. Our service was mediocre. The last time I made my usual request fried on separate plates and they weren't. Today we went only to find most of the tables still dirty. 3 servers but one of them tied up at the register. The manager no where in site. Long story short we waited 15 minutes (there was only 1 group of 2 people waiting in front of us to be seated), it wasn't like there were a lot of people waiting. When the young lady did approach us and asked how many we told her 2 and then she went back to the back were the food comes out and just stood and talked to the other server. They did nothing to clear tables, take care of customers but just stood in the corner being the soda station doing nothing. Finally, the 3rd server left the register and started taking orders (while the 2 younger ones was still hiding). I approached the older server and asked if I could speak. To the manager by this time she had gone to the register and I explained the sitiation and said we would not be eating there because the service was subpar. Who knows what they would do to the food. If my husband (who is so laid back gets upset) than it is bad service. We went somewhere else and will reconsider if we will ever return there. It is apparent to me that the management needs some overhauling because GOOD management would not let the employees get away with slacking like they were doing today. This wasn't even a busy time...
