The positives: the drinks are cheap and the regular patrons seem friendly.

The negatives: the service varies wildly based on bartender. We've had amazing cocktails with an incredibly knowledgeable bartender. This most recent time, the bartender told us "if you want cocktails, go to The Crows Nest." A really peculiar place - definitely a local’s bar. After working over my ID for several minutes, it took another 5 to get a water. Got a whiskey coke and it had a strange taste, maybe the coke was flat, idk.. took forever to get that whiskey as we watched the only bartender send out texts, and it wasn’t that busy. Russ is the 4th generation of family to hold ownership in this bar. I know this because he takes the time to know his customers. This was my first time in the UP and this bar and it's owner attributed to one phenomenal time up here.
