Tried this new place for the first time this evening. Ordered online and picked up via their drive thru. Ordering online was easy but was disappointed to see that you could not choose/change the 1 side item you got if you purchased one of the strips meals. The lady we dealt with at the drive thru was kind and didn't take long to get our order. Now for the food: I ordered a 3-piece grilled chicken strips with Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce. The Grilled Strips were not dried out, but the grilled marks are fake marks, and the quality reminds me of the grilled strips you can buy for your salad from local stores. Not a bad taste, but nothing authentic about them. The sauce did NOT taste of Honey Mustard at all. I am thinking maybe they mis-labeled their sauce because it tasted similar to KFC's Awesome Sauce. We also ordered a 5-piece breaded strips with Bee BBQ Dipping Sauces. Again, decent, but very similar to the ones you can buy in the freezer section of a food store. At least with these ones the dipping sauce was in-deed a BBQ type of sauce. It must be noted that the chicken strips size was only about 2 inches long. There are more like an oversized chicken nugget then a strip. Now for the deeply sad part, they offer Garlic and Chedder Biscuits and tho they work out to be much more costly than what Red Lobster sells theirs for; we figured it would be amazing highlight to the meal. Sadly, not only were they very dry and chalky like, there was nearly no flavor coming these guys at all. No real garlic taste, no cheese taste. The last thing we bought was the mashed potatoes with gravy. The potatoes weren't bad at all, but the gravy tasted as if it were made with only using chicken bouillon as the flavor. Total spent on this trip was $18 and some change. I was really wanting to be WOW'ed by this more so because of the price for so little food. In the end, we tried it and sadly, we do not plan on going back. We will be still going to BG tho. Maybe some adjustments could be made??... if you are not willing to make handmade tenders fresh in house then dropping the price would be in order. Maybe trash the biscuits and try something else. We are just sad because we really wanted to...
Read moreYoop Coop is hands-down one of the most memorable and delicious dining experiences in the Upper Peninsula. From the moment you step in, you can tell this isn’t just another chicken place—it’s a spot built on passion for great food, friendly service, and a love for the local community. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a rustic, Yooper charm that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. The food is nothing short of outstanding. The chicken is perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and clearly made fresh—not mass-produced. Portions are generous, and the menu has enough variety to keep everyone happy, from classic fried chicken lovers to those looking for sandwiches, tenders, or flavorful sides. Speaking of sides, they’re not an afterthought here—the coleslaw is crisp and tangy, the fries are golden and seasoned just right, and the biscuits are buttery and crave-worthy. Everything tastes homemade, and you can tell the ingredients are fresh.
Service at Yoop Coop is just as impressive as the food. Staff are genuinely friendly, quick to help with recommendations, and attentive without being overbearing. Even when it’s busy—and it often is—they keep things running smoothly while making each customer feel valued. The attention to detail extends to cleanliness, organization, and the overall comfort of the dining area.

Read moreThis is my personal opinion. Picture #1 the spread. Picture #2 my “not so favorites” Picture #3 my favorites - Ranked top to bottom
Favorites: Honey mustard is phenomenal. Maple waffle is very odd but really good, I couldn’t do it as my full meal but it’s awesome. Yoop is a honey mustard base, close second to honey mustard. Switching between these two is my go to. Both ranches are really good, I honestly can’t decide on ranch or super ranch. Coop is literally raisin’ cane sauce, vinegar base, pretty solid. (Not a bad thing but I like the replica) BeeBQ is a solid take on a classic BBQ sauce, like it. Bama is a spicier, vinegary sauce, more peppary than Coop sauce. Squatch BQ is solid, a thicker BBQ sauce with Chile flakes in it for a bit of kick. Hot honey is good but overly sweet I think. Good flavor but too much honey. Buffalo is a solid last place for me. It’s a Buffalo sauce, I don’t like Buffalo sauce but I appreciate its flavor.
Not so favorites: These just didn’t hit the flavors for me. Some were hot to just be hot. I tried every sauce and obviously knew there would be ones I didn’t like.
Overall: Really freaking good. Chicken was very good honestly. Tender, very little fat. A bit small but really good quality. Biscuits were red lobster biscuit wannabes. I mean this in a good way though, but just not red lobster biscuit good. A little garlic-y for me but over all solid. Mac and cheese was prime but I didn’t eat a lot as I was stuffed by the end of this.
Price is a bit high but a great treat every now and again.
Definitely worth trying. Will 100% be back and plan to support the Yoop Coop long...
