My experience at this restaurant was so bad that I REQUESTED A REFUND (I have never requested a refund at any restaurant in my entire life, and I am not a chick). NOT FRIENDLY place. Employee touched order screen while also preparing food (LACK OF HYGIENE). servers were taking their time to prepare the order that I had to go sit and wait for the order. No one in line/no a busy place.
Requested Burrito Bowl they didn’t add vegetarian chorizo as requested. Only had black beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, and cheese. They didn’t add lettuce, tomatoes, onions, corn, salsa, sour cream, etc.
This is mostly take out place. They packed my food but decided to check out what was in my bowl. Bowl was almost empty, ITS CONTENT COULD FIT IN A DESSERT PLATE without spilling over. ENOUGH FOOD FOR A 3-YEARS OLD, not for an adult. One could easily see the bottom of the bowl without spilling the food.
The cost was over $13 with tax. I told IVONNE, the server, I could get a bowl for less and completely full at Chipotle or CAVA. Apparently she didn’t like what I said that, that when I asked her to fill up the bowl, she refused. Not kidding. ITS CONTENT COULD FIT IN A DESSERT PLATE without spilling over. She kept insisting that’s what I requested in my order and was not willing to add any thing else to the bowl or fill it up to my satisfaction.
She began to put me down as if she wanted me to lose my cool and raise my voice or make a scene. When my sister who was at the table asked in a loud voice "what is the problem? why don't they fill up your bowl?” Ivonne called her to approach the counter and began to praise her for no reason. We were guessing Ivonne didn't want the other two ladies at the restaurant to hear what was going on, so she called my sister to approach the counter. When she approached, Ivonne told my sister that she gave me what I asked for and she even asked me if I wanted cheese because she believe I was vegetarian. My sister then has to educate her in the different between Vegan and Vegetarian—I am neither.
For a reason I didn’t understand, she treated me with disrespect. She must had had some personal vendetta. Perhaps a situation with another person and was taking it with me.
Realizing she was not willing to add anything else to my bowl, I told her I couldn't go back to that restaurant, Ivonne replied was "that is your choice". Told her that I couldn't recommend the place and Ivonne told me it was okay. I then asked her for a Refund. Ivonne told me she will NOT GIVE ME A REFUND that same day and that she will have to give me the refund the next day. I asked for a note to that effect. She refused to give me a note repeating that she will give me a refund the next day. Still waiting for that refund.
After leaving the establishment I decided to go back and press her for a written refund note. As I asked her she stood there on her phone ignoring me. I just stood there waiting and after a few minutes she asked me what I wanted. I asked her again for a note. Then she used a highlighter to write a note, I asked her to write it with a pen and she said she didn't have a pen.
Have I been someone who got upset easily, use fowl language or put her in her place I am sure she will not had treated me the way she did and she will had make the $3 bowl she gave me worth the $13 bowl I ordered. I am a calm person and not disrespectful with other people and she took advantage of my quiet but to the point personality. My sister told me that if I will had gone in there demanding she will had not treated me the way she did. She is probably right.
My brother in law was not happy with the food costing him more than $46 for two people when it is not even a sit down restaurant. Nor did they give him the salsa that was suppose to come with it. While my bowl didn't have the vegetarian chorizo she was suppose to add to it also
For those people who order DoorDash or Uber from this place be careful and please check your orders before leaving the establishment if you are willing to pay more than you will pay at Chipotle,...
Read moreI recently visited Big Papi's Tacos on a Sunday afternoon during a drive through Hagerstown, and I wanted to share my experience. After reading some positive reviews online and discovering their "Kid's Eat Free" deal, my family and I decided to give it a try.
Firstly, the Kid's Eat Free promotion was a great perk for us since we have three youngsters. The Cheese Quesadilla option for kids worked well for them. We also ordered three other meals and a couple of drinks. However, I must admit that the drinks were on the expensive side at $3.45 for a fountain drink.
Once we settled at our table, we encountered a few challenges. Firstly, there were no high chairs or boosters available for small kids, which made it a bit challenging to manage our little ones during the meal. Secondly, we noticed that the kids' meals didn't include any form of a drink, not even a cup for water. Since the ordering process was entirely through kiosks and there was no direct service at the register, we ended up sharing two drinks among six people, which was less than ideal.
Another issue we encountered was the temperature inside the restaurant. It was quite hot, even though it was a pleasant 75 degrees outside, it felt like around 85 degrees inside. Additionally, we couldn't find a trashcan anywhere outside the drink area.
Despite these challenges with the restaurant's setup, I must commend Big Papi's Tacos on the quality of their food. The birria tacos were some of the best we've had in the area, and the Hot Cheeto Esquite Loco was exceptionally delicious. The food definitely exceeded our expectations.
It's worth noting that even with the three free kids' meals, our overall bill still came to over $80, so it's not a budget-friendly dining option.
In conclusion, Big Papi's Tacos offers delicious food that's on point, especially their birria tacos and unique dishes like the Hot Cheeto Esquite Loco. However, there are some areas where the restaurant could improve, such as providing high chairs, including drinks with kids' meals, addressing the temperature inside, and adding more trash cans. Despite these issues, we enjoyed the food and the overall experience, and we would consider returning...
Read moreThere was a time where you could come in and you got excited about big papi’s I use to love eating here and picking up door dash orders now it’s just depressing and the slowest service I have ever seen and it’s because their is no pride or excitement. I have been a door dasher for 5 years now and am a certified chef for the past 14 years. This has to be the slowest cooks I have ever had to deal with. I came in a minute right before I am supposed to pick up someone’s order and it’s 12 tickets behind and I am told oh you are early I said the customers food is supposed to be ready in 1 minute and the only words that are said back to me are “ I understand”…. If it’s understood why are your cooks working slow as snails. Pick up the pace, shift into gear you’re just making tacos it’s not a 30-40 dish menu. I can understand waiting 5 more minutes but I’m waiting 20 minutes for 3 surf n turf tacos, 2 orders of chips and Queso and 3 Carne Asada tacos. These are very simple and easy to make. All I ask is please pick up the pace! Your customers are hungry for your delicious food and every minute is dashers have to wait is money lost. Food is phenomenal and it’s not phenomenal because your taking your grand old time. I can serve a 5 star dish in under 10 minutes with awesome presentation it’s what I do but it doesn’t need to be 5 start to...
