This place is solid when I need fried fish and I can’t get it from my other usual spots because it isn’t Fish Fry Fridays.
Ordering is simply. The prices have risen over my last year of visiting. The service is always fast and friendly. The have COVID measures in place.
I’ve only eaten the catfish and I haven’t been disappointed. It’s not super seasoned but it’s still good. After a little hot sauce or tarter sauce, it’s good to go. It also warms up well in the air fryer (375 for 5-6 minutes and it tastes like you just ordered it). It is more expensive than flounder which I’ve ordered. The Shrimp Platter provided a good amount of fries to share, a small coleslaw that was really good. Crunchy and a bit sweet. The tarter sauce is creamy and sweet. And the hush puppies, the two that came with the platter, were really good, and also a little sweet. There’s definitely a theme around sugar here. I try to avoid excess sugar and after trying this, I’m definitely going to have to balance eating here because I will definitely dive into the tarter sauce and order another coleslaw.
My favorite - I absolutely indulge on their hand cut french fries which give me Boardwalk fries vibes. I bring them home and add vinegar and a little Old Bay, and I go back to Landover Mall days.
They offer a lot of seafood options. And I appreciate that they are a quick pick up spot central to the Clinton / Upper Marlboro / Brandywine area. I’m not saying there aren’t other places to try that offer a bit more gourmet seafood menu and many are black owned (which you should definitely try) but this is definitely a low key grab and go option.

Read moreI’ve been going to Captain Pete’s for quite some time now, and let me tell you—it never disappoints. The food here is consistently top-tier, and you really can’t go wrong no matter what you choose. My go-to is usually the whiting or trout sandwich—fresh, flavorful, and cooked just right every single time.
When I’m in the mood to switch it up, I go for a platter—either whiting or trout, sometimes both—and occasionally add shrimp to round it out. The platters come with perfectly crisp, golden press-cut fries and a side of classic coleslaw that balances everything out. It’s a winning combo, every time.
Whether I’m grabbing a quick bite or treating myself to a full meal, Captain Pete’s always delivers on quality, taste, and consistency....
Read moreI went here to purchase crabs for the first time in Maryland, on a coworker’s recommendation. The young man Shawn was very helpful showing me the differences in the size crabs they had available and his upbeat personality was nice. Get the Shawn special if you don’t want too much seasoning on your crabs. Also, you have to let them know if you don’t want your crabs steamed. I wanted my crab live but didn’t communicate that so they automatically steamed them and I didn’t know they would without me asking so that was a lesson learned for me. Also, I expected the large crabs to be lager. Overall the crabs were hot...
