I waited before I wrote this review just to see if I would feel different about my experience. In business customer service is everything! I supported this establishment ever since they was located in the city. My last visit was very unpleasant. I called before I placed my order to check prices, placed my order, but when I got to the store I was charged more. She said oh. I thought you were talking about a different meal but it was still salmon so I said okay, don't worry, just give it to me. When it was time to pay that's when the attitude came. I handed her my debit card and her words was I don't feel like typing in these numbers. With a serious attitude! I don't know what personal issue she was having that day but that attitude towards me (someone who drove 8 miles to patronage your establishment) was uncalled for. The guy there quickly intervened took My card punched in my numbers. Everything was okay. Once I got my food I realized it wasn't any cheese on my broccoli and you know restaurants charge for cheese... When I brought my food back in and gave it to the guy as he was taking it to the kitchen, she questioned with an attitude. What's the problem? I got my food and when I got to the car to check it, I realize it's just two pieces of cheese placed on top of my broccoli. Once I take it back again I ask hey, can you just put this in the microwave for about 2 minutes to melt the cheese. Once again she sees me from the kitchen, what's her problem now with an attitude? He hands them over my food. Ask them to melt the cheese. When I got it back the cheese was not melted at all. The container didn't feel hot, I honestly don't think they even attempted to microwave or melt my cheese. I go back to the counter and I opened the container. Show him my food and I said I don't want y'all to think I'm trying to be difficult but look at this. This is not melted at all. Just two pieces of cheese on top of my broccoli. The bad part is it wasn't just my meal. I had a friend of mine with me that just moved to Maryland, I was telling them about this place, how good their food was and how reasonable the prices were just to be treated like this and for them to not enjoy their meal nor experience. I was overcharged and treated extremely rude. If you're having a bad day you should Not be working front counter. And most importantly, you should not be taking it out on...
Read moreThe atmosphere: The server is fairly nice. The atmosphere is laid back. It feels like the border line between a restaurant and a distant relatives house. Its cozy. The food: The $5 plates are an excellent deal (an entree and two sides for $5). This a business Id like to see prosper. Ive had a number of the meals and, Im sure, I'd try to be a regular if it was closer. They have a wide selection of soul food. The biggest Ive seen in baltimore. The mac and cheese needs to be worked on and the desserts are too expensive ($4) for me. They do give a pretty big slice but im usually ordering for a group of 8 so its a no-no. My kids order the garlic mashed potatoes everytime we go. I think I could eat the salmon everyday. Delicious! Try them out. You wont be disappointed. Doing this review makes me want to go there for lunch!
Update (5/2022): since doing this review the business has changed locations and the decor and atmosphere has changed unfortunately. I think the business may have changed owners? Well since 2019, they are not friendly. The cashier was rude. Rude enough for me not to be bothered by coming anymore. And I hadn't been in about 2 years. I stopped by today bc I was looking for a cheap meal and decided to put up with their attitudes for a good crab cake. Business was closed early. They were supposed to close at 7 but was completely locked and shut down by 10 minutes to 7. I would have taken whatever they had but I understand enough from my time in the culinary business to understand that they were cleaned up and shut down before 7 means the posted hours are not reliable. Sad. Changing my rating due to all...
Read moreFirst time going here . Was greeted by a man who assumed just because i looked hispanic, I was at the wrong place and may have been looking for tacos 😂. Now i thought it was funny not mad about it . But why be prejudice . Anyways i stepped in and i had called ahead . They didnt have my food ready so i had to wait another 10-15 mins. I ordered the woodlawn sub. The presentation of the sub was well and it looked really good . Nice hefty sub . Had to attack it with a fork before i actually tried eating it like a sub haha. As im digging through, the chicken it contained was very dry. looked old and yellowish. I had to keep sipping my drink to make up for it . It also had steak and shrimp . Overall the sub wasnt all that (not good/ok) Very dry. I was disappointed because ive heard people around me talk about the spot alot. So I was like what was all the hype about? Dont know if ill return . Most likely not . For the money the quantity/size of the sub was worth it . But not...
