Denny's — Restaurant in Maryland

To Whom It May Concern: On 13FEB24, I went into this location which was empty except for a waitress, manager and a cook. I sat down at a booth and waited for the waitress (older woman with gray braids in bun) to take my order. I ordered a hamburger patty (well-done/crispy), avocado and tomato slices, white toasted bread with butter and a cup of decaffeinated coffee with warm milk. I have eaten here many times and ordered the same food with no problem. Upon receiving my food, there was cheese slathered on the meat, which I didn't order....called the waitress over and told her that, that was not what I had ordered....she disapproving looked at me while she took the plate away...I kept the avocado and tomato slices since I knew that this would take some time for the cook to get it right.....I looked over to the kitchen, while sitting down in the booth and saw the cook put his fingers in the mouth while his braids (not in a hair net) were jumping around while he moved. I found this to be unsanitary and decided to say something to the manager....whenever she came out.

I received my plate and the meat looked not well-done but a grayish color...unsuitable for my palate and of course, I called her back...She (the waitress) made a comment "You go over there, I'm not going back to that customer" all the time, leaning up against the counter closest to the kitchen order ledge...I heard her and looked at her....she was looking in the opposite direction.....well, the waitress did come by the booth and I changed my order to a BLT...with only extra bacon, lettuce, tomato on dry white bread....no mayonnaise was ordered here.....the plate came back with mayonnaise splashed all over the BLT...the manager came over and I told her to cancel my order...the waitress did not pay attention to what I ordered,

The waitress was more concerned about how close another employee was going to park next to her car...she went on about that for about 7 minutes straight and when the employee came in to start her shift, she made mention about her parking so close to her car and so on. Yes, I timed her on this....the cook was sloppy and looked dirty from where I could see him, and why was he putting his fingers in his mouth? And where was his hair net over those jumping braids of his? He looked disgusting and to be cooking over the grill....completely unacceptable....the manager came over and took my plate away and I was charge for the cup of coffee ($3.49) which I paid at the register.

The manager told me that she saw the plate with the hamburger patty on it and that it looked good so, I told her that if that was the case....you should eat it.....I cannot believe that Denny's hires people such as these three to work for them.....the manager had white hair, shoulder length that should have been pulled back for health reasons....no one wants hair in their food, beverages or tables/chairs....pull your hair back and keep it from falling into my personal space.The manager was argumentative and unprofessional, to say the least.

A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT IN GOING THERE TO EAT..I had to go to another restaurant to get a good meal.

21FEB24.....in response to the reply to this posting....per the receipt, I was there on 15FEB24, and I was the first customer in the restaurant...it was empty of customers as I walked in.....minutes after I walked in, there was a man and his son who came in after me....as for me complaining about the food before, sadly mistaken there....the food and service before this date has been great! As for the race of the cook and waitress...another mistake since I have a sister who is African-American.....you can state what you want here but I took notes on everything that happened during the visit. Make sure and take note of the last sentence....notes constantly.....and since I could not reply to the ludicrous posting by the manager....the above-mentioned is my reply.......employ people that listen to the customer and heed to the regulations of the Department of Health. I took my 5 year old daughter here for a late lunch date after more X-rays for her broken arm. The server was obviously new and had not received much training. My daughter asked for chocolate milk. She got a very watery hot chocolate instead. She ordered the kids create your own grand slam and asked for an over easy egg. When the server was inputting our order, he came back over and said they don’t do over easy eggs - it’s not an option. They only do scrambled, scrambled with cheese, over medium or over hard 🤔. We also asked for toast which we never received. By the time we got the check, it was after 4 and kids eat free on Tuesdays after 4! I asked about it when we went up to pay (same server checked us out). He said he didn’t know how that worked. He went to ask who I’m guessing was the manager. She was sitting at a table with another lady. It could’ve been an interview I suppose. Either way, she just waved him off and said (in an annoyed voice) “that’s only after 4.” Well it was after 4. I said this to the server. He just glanced over at the manager and said “I’m sorry, I’m new. I really don’t know.” So I didn’t push it, just paid. Overall not a very good experience and I felt bad for the server because he obviously had no clue what he was doing and the manager wasn’t offering him any help at all. Just left this place less than 10min ago and I have NEVER had an experience like this before. So I ordered my food, which when I did seemed like I was being rushed. Our food came out in less than 5 minutes (red flag) and when I got my food I noticed a short piece of curly hair on my plate, my hair is curly but long so I thought okay maybe it was mines so I didn’t return it. The bacon was burnt black and hard and nothing I had was hot it was cool (which explains why it only took 5 minutes for us to get it, I’m thinking they may have had it sitting out prior to us ordering) I returned my bacon it was better, but now greasy with burnt pieces 🙄. As I go to pack my food up to leave somewhere in my hash browns was ANOTHER piece of short curly hair, at this point it’s NO WAY it was mines the waiter he had curly short hair so it might have been his hair. I just left all my food there. I never write reviews. I wish I said something but once I saw that second piece of hair I felt sick and just wanted to get out of there.
