The food was excellent. Best bagels in the Baltimore area without question.
I am giving a 3-star review here to balance the quality of the food with the quality of the service/decision making of the workers. I had a very poor experience with my order taking almost a full hour and the only reason I eventually received it was because I asked why it was taking so long.
I entered the store and ordered via the kiosk. For Dine-In it asks you to first grab a number and I grabbed #36 and entered it (you then display this number at your table and they bring your order to you when it is ready). Then I entered my order and paid as well. At the end of the kiosk experience, I entered my email address and was emailed a receipt which I noticed later had #48 on it and not the #36 I entered at the beginning of my order and was displayed on my table outside where I was sitting and waiting for my order.
Here is where the workers and decision makers at Goldberg's messed up this morning. Apparently they were out of two of the bagels that made up part of my order. They later told me they called out #48 (again my number was #36 as entered at the beginning of my kiosk order) and they told me they tried their best to find me (again, I was outside sitting at their tables among other customers as well). They never looked outside. So they just gave up! This is the part that is completely unacceptable.
They told me they didn't make my order because they couldn't find me. I was there the entire time, but at the tables outside. Why would they have not tried to find me outside? They continued to deliver orders to other outside this entire time as well. Instead they decided to just not make my order instead of actually finding me. This is just mind boggling to me. Maybe the number mix up is the second part of the problem here. If that also played a part into the confusion then why does their kiosk assign a different order number WITHOUT ALSO putting the number that I entered at the beginning of the ordering process there.
Big logistical issues is the summary here. They were busy as usual this morning (typical for a Sunday morning), but to not make an order and completely give up on finding the person is just terrible decision making. Try...
Read moreWe went to this restaurant based on a suggestion from someone else. The parking lot was not the easiest. We were really disappointed. The customer service was awful, with the exception of one young man who was trying to do many things at the same time. We tried to order from the kiosk, but the machine broke in the middle of the order. We ordered from the second machine. Then we waited for a long time. Finally I asked and was told to go to another counter to get my bagel. I asked about the sandwich and was told to find a seat and wait for my name to be called. All of the seats were taken. When we finally found one, we did not hear our name called but saw two women talking about a sandwich while looking at a receipt. I asked if it was a tuna, and the lady confirmed. She told us that we did not put a name in when we ordered. We were unable to complete the order without our name. In addition, there is a number on the receipt she could have called. We left feeling like a huge bother to the folks that worked at this place (minus the young man). The tuna was ok. We were beyond disappointed. Then we were still eating and had a customer walk up and ask us if we were almost done so he could have our table. Really!!!! Perhaps if the customer service was better we would have enjoyed it more but I will never go back to this place!!!!!!!! What a waste of my money and time.

Read moreAs a prospective paying customer, I hated the treatment I received at Goldberg's New York Bagels in Pikesville . I've been going to this Jewish bakery for years with no problems. This morning I arrived and planned to purchase 1/2 dozen bagels. I placed my order and as my order was being filled the elderly bagel bagger serving me, he dropped the bagels on the counter. I told the elderly bagel bagger that I did not want the ones he dropped. He proceeded to put the bagels he dropped back in the bagel bin for someone else to purchase. He pull my new batch from the back of the bagel bin. The elderly bagel bagger, in an attempt to display his disdain for my request, proceeded to throw the bag at me while others around me watched in disbelief. As a paying customer patronizing Goldberg's New York Bagels in Pikesville MD, I expect to be treat with courtesy and respect. Courtesy and respect should not be reserved only for people from this community. I was appalled at the treatment I received from the elderly bagel bagger. I felt poorly treated and grossly disrespected. I left the bagels and the juices I had planned to purchase on the counter and me and my money are left Goldberg's New York bagel to purchase bagels from an establishment that appreciates all their customers. Needless to say, they have lost a life long customer. I will share my experience at Goldberg's New York Bagels...
