Went to Jose for lunch today and had a HORRIBLE experience. Let’s start off by talking about to freaking cold it was in there. Idk if the heat was working or if they were blasting the ac at full force. We were greeted and seated immediately upon entering the restaurant and got the free chips and dip right away, they gets 1 star for that. We were a party of 4 plus my baby. Only my Bf, our baby and I was there when we were seating so we didn’t have an issue that the waiter didn’t come right away. When the rest of our table got there, we waited 10-15 minutes before our waiter finally showed up. He greeted us and ask if we were ready to order or if we needed more time. We put in an appetizer and my bf order a drink from the bar but he didn’t take any drink request from the rest of us. Our appetizer came, which was the shrimp and crab dip, which is always good. It was delivered by a runner, not our waiter which was okay. Another 10-15 minutes go by as we enjoy our appetizer, wondering when our waiter would come back to take our order. Our waiter was walking past us a few times before he finally came back to take our order. We placed our order and he finally also ask for drink orders. Little did we know… that would be the last time we saw our waiter smh. Our food, which was delicious btw, was delivered by the runner again, we all took a few bites and then was ready to pack it up because we were full also we sat by 3 plants so there was gnats flying around, not many, just 1-2. As we waited, hoping our waiting would come back to we can get boxes and the check, he NEVER did. Or food quickly got cold, because it was freezing in there, as 20-25 minutes went by and waiting for our waiter, who was standing at the register tapping at the screen, we had to get another waiter and ask him to grab ours. The other waiter came back and said “he’s coming”. He never did! We started to get annoyed and frustrated, my bf went to the front to get the manage, who was nice to us when we got there, told my bf that he was busy. So another gentleman came over and asked was everything okay, we explained to him that we haven’t seen our waiter since he took our order and we are trying to get boxes to leave and my bf didn’t want his food anymore. He said he will get the manager. So some other guy came over and we had to tell the story over again. This guy proceeded to tell us that they are super busy and understaff. We got here a lot so we know the service is usually great but this was out first time there for lunch. We told him that we have been here for lunch plenty of times and this is nothing compared to dinner. So he then leaves and go get the actual manager. Who comes over and say “so nobody wants the food? okay” and just start rudely grabbing the plates and told us we had to pay for the two drinks. He never gave us a chance to say yes or no. I wanted my food, I just wanted a box and so did one of the other guest but we didn’t even get the chance to say anything. My food was delicious and I wanted it to take home for dinner. He then comes back with the check and slams it on the table. FINALLY… our waiter comes back to take the card so we can pay for the drinks. The manager brings us back the receipt and throws it and a pen on the table at us. Never in my life have I received just rude and unnecessary treatment. Like if you were under staff and you’re busy, JUST SAY THAT! But to NEVER have our waiter come back to our table after he takes our order is just crazy. Usually waiters would come over after the table receives their food and ask how is everything and if you need anything. We got none of that. The manager didn’t even apologize or nothing. I WILL NO LONGER be going to this establishment after this. Completely...
Read moreA young lady greeted and seated me immediately. After a minute or two a polite young man offered to get me a drink. I ordered iced tea with lemon and Splenda. The large tea was fresh brewed, not from a soda fountain or instant powder. There was a good slice of juicy lemon included, not just a sliver for decoration that many restaurants provide! I was served warm tortilla chips and salsa that wasn’t just the plain stuff from a jar, It had great flavor and just enough spice to it!
I ordered my favorite chicken fajitas with black beans and was surprised that the waiter asked if I prefer whole black beans or “mashed“. I’ve never been given that option, but I much prefer the whole beans! The portion size was generous and the flavor was so good that I couldn’t just stop at half to save as a souvenir for my next meal. The marinated chicken was very flavorful and cut into small pieces along with peppers and onions and just enough sauce to keep it all moist..
The plate on the side had a large portion of yellow rice with some small mixed vegetables, kicking the look and flavor up a notch when compared to the plain white rice many restaurants serve. The lettuce was fresh shredded with a spoon of with sour cream and some diced tomatoes as well. I was given three good sized tortillas that were warm and steamy inside a foil wrap. Overall, it was excellent.
Another thing worth noting was my iced tea which was fresh brewed, not from concentrate from a soda fountain or from powdered instant. The lemon was a juicy quarter slice, not a thin sliver for decoration that many restaurants provide. Splenda was no problem either. Some restaurants have lame excuses like, "Sorry we’ve run out", "It's so hard to keep because people steal it", "I'll search around at other tables", OR the worst, "No, we only have the regular pink(Saccharin 1950s) and blue(Aspartame 1981). I've never seen yellow(Splenda 1999) or green(Stevia 2010)."
The restaurant was clean, well lit, and decorated, with nice music playing to set the scene for a nicer relaxing meal. The ONLY reason I didn't give 5 stars for Atmosphere is because of a group of well dressed young people sitting in the middle of the restaurant. The guys respected everyone by talking in normal hushed time, but the gals demanded attention by hooting and hollering so loudly that it ruined the mood. But there's one in every crowd that steals the show! One gal had b the nerve to light up and smoke without a care, and no one called her out despite the fact it is illegal to smoke or vape in a public place!
I would highly recommend this place, in fact tonight I went out of my way to come here, partly because they were open until a very reasonable 1030 on a Saturday night, far better than many that close at 9! Give Jose Thrills a try! I am sure you will not be...
Read moreHad dinner here approximately 3 weeks ago…it was TERRIBLE! I’ve been to Jose Tequilas several times and really enjoyed it. This last visit was by far the worst visit ever. We ordered chorizo and cheese dip but we got shrimp and beef dip served by another waiter who had no idea what he was delivering. I do not eat seafood and was very disturbed when my girlfriend pulled chunks of shrimp out of the dip. It took 10 minutes for us to get our waiter’s attention. Strike one. We then ordered our entrees, the waiter was extremely confused about our order so I pointed to what I wanted and confirmed that it was one beef and one cheese enchilada…another waiter brought the food out and ran from the table. We then realized that we didn’t have silverware…waited another 10-15 minutes for that. Once I cut into my food I found that I had a chicken and cheese enchilada. My girlfriend ordered a chicken and sour cream dish which ultimately was a cup of sour cream, 2 shreds of chicken and a tortilla. I talked to our waiter once again and he went back and forth with me, stated the kitchen didn’t know the dish and then walked over to read a menu. Strike two and three. After calming down from the annoyance, I asked to speak to a manager. He then asked why. I told the waiter I was dissatisfied with the appetizer mistake, my entree and the entire experience and wanted to leave and would not pay for the meal. He then asked me “what’s wrong with hers” and I said it was not a meal worth having. He then got very attitudinal and claimed to speak to the manager (who was really another waiter). He returned to our table and said they’d remove my entree and gave me a sob story about him paying for my appetizer out of his own tips. He also told me that our service and the mistakes “weren’t his problem”, “we don’t know how the restaurant service works” and they wouldn’t compensate us. A manager never came to our table. We ended up having to pay for 2 sodas and a plate with tortillas wrapped around sour cream. I actually wanted to just walk out but I’m sure I would have gotten in trouble for not paying the bill, right? This meal was full of mistakes, disgusting, the service was despicable and unprofessional, and the experience will prevent me from returning or ever suggesting this...
