My boyfriend and I visited World of Beer - Owings Mills for the first and last time on Friday, July 27, 2018. We entered the restaurant and stood awkwardly at the front unsure if it was open seating or we needed to wait to be served. We spotted a waiter at a nearby table and waited for her to finish to ask if we needed to be seated by them or if it was open. It was a quiet night with only about 4-5 other tables being occupied. The waiter was fine but the service and response time was extremely slow. We waited approximately 15 minutes for 1 beer and 45 minutes for our incorrect food order. When placing my burger order, I requested that the sauce be placed on the side. This was not completed as requested. When our food had finally arrived our sides were inverted (I received his and he received mine), cold, and the sauce was placed on the burger. When we brought this to the waiters attention after flagging her down 5 minutes later she brought us a smaller side dish complimentary. After expressing dissatisfaction with the burger and not wanting to wait another 45 mins for it to be remade she went to tell the manager. This is where the experience went downhill. It took approximately 7 mins for her to return and say that the manager told the cook to remake it and that it should be ready in 5 minutes. At that point I reluctantly agreed to the remake. The manager had not bothered to come over to address the situation. 10 minutes later and I am still waiting for the new burger. The burger arrives 15 minutes from the time she stated they were remaking it. We inquired about compensation for the inconvenience in which she stated it would be discounted. My boyfriend and I did not feel as if that was sufficient given the unwarranted wait time from start to finish. She communicates this to her manager who still did not come out to address us but agreed to remove the burger from the bill. I ask for the manager directly to inform him of my experience. Ankhit was very disinterested and did not apologize for the inconvenience. I informed him that I would have appreciated the opportunity to speak with him earlier before the burger was remade without my permission and when compensation was discussed. He again was less than apologetic and did not offer much explanation. Frustrated with his clear lack of competence within the restaurant industry, we asked for the number or contact information for the corporate office. He states he was not at liberty to provide that information and that our complaint would end with him and his limited options in compensation. We normally do not take the time to write reviews about restaurants unless we really love them or really hate them. This was by far the worse restaurant experience we have ever had and it was largely in part due to the management. We will not be returning and do not recommend you eat here unless you have plenty of time to wait for your order and don't mind it being incorrect...
Read moreUpdate: So I made the huge mistake of coming back. I came here recently with my wife and her friends. Remembering that I had horrible service here before, I thought "maybe it was a one time thing". Wrong. Absolute trash. They all share helping out the tables. We had 2 different servers, and one random employee who helped once. We all ordered our drinks, and they came a while later. Except for one of our friends. We gave them a break, and didn't ask for his drink, but waited 30 mins and they finally came back. They brought out the food, and he asked for his drink yet again. The waiter went to get it, or so we thought. An additional 30 mins passed, and then they finally came back.. without the drink. It took him over an hour to get his drink, and we all had refills multiple times. The food was trash. One guest ordered wings, they were completely dry and well over cooked. The sauce they used tasted like it had spoiled about 3 months prior, and they just added BBQ to it. My wife ordered a ribeye, but was served a sirloin. It was tough, way over cooked, and small. I ordered a pretzel with "a generous serving of French onion dip". First of all, I was given barely a smattering of sauce, and it was some sort of cheese sauce, not French onion dip. The pretzel wasn't bad, but you can't mess up a frozen product to begin with. They never came to clear the table. We had so many dishes, it was astounding. When we finally had enough, we started placing them on the table next to us, since we hardly saw a server. When he saw this, he came over huffing and puffing that we possibly dirtied another table. They never brought out silverware. They bring us our food, then disappeared. I had to find my own silverware by asking one of the few people standing around doing nothing.
All in all, this is a horrible restaurant. It's probably nicer at the bar, but ill never find out because this is the last time I'm ever going to a World of Beer.
Only came here because Eggspectations had a 1.5 hr wait to be seated. I recommend waiting for Eggspectations... World of Beer was very poor. Waited about 10 minutes to get our original drinks. Food came timely, but was less than expected. My wife ordered Steak, and it came out barely seasoned and chewy with unseasoned broccoliI. I ordered Huevos Rancheros and it was mildly ok. No one ever checked to see if we needed anything.. and we definitely needed some salt and pepper for the steak. Also, never had a refill on our drinks, which were empty prior to us receiving our food. This was definitely not a service to be...
Read moreWe visited this spot after to local spot didn't fall through. And like the other spot it was crowded, and due to football season. When you walk in, there is a sign to advise to seat yourself. Not a good thing for especially when we are still a pandemic, IMO.
The indoor seating was pretty much full, so we had to sit outdoors, and there wasn't many good places to sit. Once we found a spot, we waited for a server. Sad, we noticed that there was only one server for the whole area. Our server, asked us if she could get us something to drink. We ordered waters with lemon. We were looking for menus, and then she placed a card in front of us and advised we had to scan with our phones to see the menu. (I do wonder what if someone doesn't have a phone to view the menu)
So after checking the menu, I was hoping to order from their weekend menu, the bacon egg's benedict, but when we started to place our order, we were advised that the brunch items are not available once the game starts. It would've been handy if that was posted somewhere on their menu, sense we had to wait a minute for the server to return. I had to finally ask her to help us with the menu, since this was our first visit to the location. I can tell she was annoyed with us, and I beginning to feel the same way. I was already annoyed at how unclean the tables were, including the ladies room. There paper towels all over the floor, and the air dryer was out of order, plus the soap dispensers were malfunctioning.
Finally, we placed our orders, we ordered the jumbo pretzel for starters and then I had the BYOB, with fried onions (not even fried onions, they were battered fried onions to be exact, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and Chipotle barbecue sauce with Swiss, and hubby had the shrimp linguine. We ended up switching, since my burger was not appeasing nor deserve a good rating. I will say the burger was fresh, since I did cut a small piece from it, but here is where things went wrong, the cheese barely melted to the burger, there was hardly any sauce, since they charge you for every topping, the bacon was sadly so small and costly, and the fries, well re-fried. YES Refried old fries!
Now hubby's dish, was tasty but very spicy and the shrimp was a tad salty. So I would've been nice if the server checked on the guests often. If this was the hype everyone talked about, I must...
