The staff making the salads had poor customer service and a bad attitude. I love "kitchen sink" salads. As I was sharing the toppings for each salad, she kept saying and gesturing "no more" as well as reminding me of the number of toppings added. It was so bad that the manager came over thinking the immigrant staff couldn't understand that two toppings were to be on the side. The staff yelled at him In Spanish. Later, I explained to the manager that she understood, but was shocked on the number of sides added per salad. Everything fit into the chopped bowls nicely as I knew from prior experience. When she went to service the next customer, she apologized. That was the clincher for me.
I asked to speak to the manager at the register. I had to wait because it was busy as usual. I explained how uncomfortable his staff made me feel. His response was just that it's busy Fridays and he'd talk to her. He rushed off without any empathy.
You would think that they would want you to get more toppings for a hefty total. Some toppings like tomatoes and avocadoes were added very skimpily (3 narrow slithers), eventhough you pay more for certain toppings. For two salads: $37.60. I am not complaining about the price as one would think. It's the service and attitude. I felt judged.
I used to tell everyone about their pizza and other food options. I used to drive from Baltimore City for just a salad in rush hour traffic--not anymore. I WILL FIND...
Read moreThe real deal. Best NY style pizza in the area and trust me, my mission coming from NY is to find the best NY style pizza in MD. This place is 90% there. They just need more grease and a little more crisp on the bottom.
If you don't follow me... Here's what you need to know:
Potomac Pizza. Hands down the best in MD that I've had thus far. Several locations. Super greasy, everything is perfect. A little more greasy and cheesy then a real NY pizza joint but it's so good I drive 20+ miles to satisfy my craving.
Times Square Kitchen. See above, I just tried it, it's about 30 miles away from me but when I'm visiting my friends I would swing by and grab it. Otherwise I'd rather go to Potomac Pizza.
Rocco's Pizzaria. Meh. It's good, they put the pepperoni under the cheese. That's a huge no-no. That's not the NY way. But luckily you can tell them to put the toppings on top and they will gladly oblige. Good pizza. It's lacking something, I can't put my finger in it. Definitely not enough sauce and the dough is pretty bland. But it's close to home so definitely doable. 10 steps above a Pizza hut. It's going for NY style and it's almost there,...
Read moreThe salad (it's a Spinach Cobb Salad, but I don't remember what they call it) was mediocre. It came with a piece of garlic bread which was lifeless and the dressing was inedible. The vegetables had no character.
I got the Philly Cheesesteak pizza and it was somehow even worse. The beef tasted like they did nothing but boil it, the tomato sauce is way too sour, and the cheese was not only the appropriate cheese for a philly cheesesteak, but it tasted cheap. It was accurate in that it had some peppers like on a real Philly, but they did not go well with the cheese or tomato sauce. Everything on the pie was discordant, which leads me to wonder if they even taste test their food.
The crust was excellent, though, I'll give them that much, but they could use a more sensible and competent chef to put dishes together.
I recognise the ambiance of the place is nice, but it's all about the food, isn't it? And I can easily say this is the worst pizza I've had in the greater Baltimore area. It wasn't cheap at all either.
I do repeat that the crust is really excellent, but with the rest of the pizza being completely unappetizing, I would never...
