This place is incredible. I moved here from Portland almost a year ago and have not found a restaurant in Marysville that is worth a second visit - Until now!
About a month ago I stopped in for tacos, I got the chicken and asada and was blown away!
At first glance, it appears to be just a Latino tienda and you can buy lots of different grocery items from Central America. But!
They have a full kitchen in the back, and there is both counter seating and booth/table seating through a doorway.
They have a full menu, so I brought my boyfriend back so that we can explore El Salvadoran food- and wow wow wow wow!
We ordered the chicken pastelitos salvadoreños and I have never in my life had something so delicious. Not kidding. My Bf ordered a chicken tamale, and was pleasantly surprised as it’s not a traditional tamale - but instead so tender and juicy.
The must try’s in our opinion: the Maracuyá soda, it’s a passion fruit juice/soda; the pastelitos salvadoreños chicken or beef; the chicken tacos. The waitress also recommended we try their pupusas on our next visit, we definitely will!
Pro tip: there is no parking in front of the store, so park in the free spaces around Comeford Park (the park with the water tower) The entrance is on State Ave, in the plaza next...
Read moreEverything I got was amazing. And I sampled most the menu. Particularly I like that tacos some with spicy fermented onion. Think kimchi, but onion. And it comes with a dip, which is find fascinating, as one thing I am not fond of with a traditional corn tacos is they can be dry. This completely changes that. It doesn't matter.
The tamales are also incredible, and very different. They are either precooked and then removed from husk to fry, or the fry renders husk edible, eitherway inside, you have a fluffy moist corn meal which is like a sweet corn bread, with I believe queso inside as a binder. I love corn bread so that was a pleasant surprise.
Their asada is done minced, so when it's fried up it all as a nice caramelization, done this way for tacos, burritos, their "crazy fries" (also amazing), and other dishes.
Flat breads are simple, unless getting it stuffed, and all the way I like breads. Tortillas made in house and shows; perfect. Frijoles used are black beans too which is a great dimension of beans that you don't see enough of.
All in all, in love. We will be ordering again,...
