Captain Jack's Island Grill — Restaurant in Maui

I kept seeing this place down on the streets so my dad and I finally decided to visit. It didn't disappoint! We got a quesadilla appetizer, I got the fish and chips, and my dad got the sink me pork burrito.

The quesadilla appetizer was really really good. My dad said he liked it more than he liked his meal! Each bite had just a perfect blend of fresh ingredients, spices, and juicy meat. The sour cream and fresh salsa elevated it as well. It was almost TOO juicy for me, you'd take a bite and the watery juice from everything would spill out all over my hand. But it was very delicious. Do recommend!

Of the "Sink me [pork] burrito" my dad said that "it was really good but almost had too much meat. I would have preferred less meat and more rice. I'd rate it about a 4/5"

The fish and chips plate was AMAZING. I come from a place where fresh fish isn't really an attainable thing so my standards might be skewed, but I dare say this was the best fish I've ever had. The batter was thin, crunchy, and had just the right flavor. The fish was so tender it practically melted in my mouth... It was perfection. The house tartar sauce was beyond incredible and did elevate the dish. The steak cut fries were good and serviceable, but I was expecting a bit more from the Cole slaw... My palate is a bit more refined from living in the south for a few years, so maybe keep that in mind. Overall I loved the fish and chips plate and do recommend it!

The only other note I have is I'm a bit disappointed that the pirate theming stops with a few decorations and menu graphics... Would have been cool to maybe have some more items on the walls, maybe hear a sea shanty on the loud speaker or something other than trap remixes of popular songs. A little bit of a nitpick but it's there.

Overall if you're in Lahaina, this is a great place to eat with really friendly and quick to serve staff, not to mention the price seemed to be pretty good for everything we...

We ate at Captain Jack's twice. It's on the main street of Lahaina where there are many restaurants. Our condo had given us coupons for there. You could get appitizer calamari or your choice of dessert with purchase of 2r entrees. The first time we both had fish and chips. I asked for sauteed veggies instead of Cole slaw. They were delicious! This fish was good. They had fat fries which aren't my favorite but my husband loved his and said the Cole slaw was delicious. For dessert we chose New York cheese cake. You got to choose the topping and we're got carmel. Best cheesecake I've had in a long time. The restaurant is up a flight of stairs, so is not WC accessible. The restuarant is open air so warm but not as hot as outside. They have ceiling fans and you catch the breezes, too. With the sun not beating down on you it was comfortable. They had a wide menu variety, including a kid's menu. Staff was very friendly and very attentive. Good was served hot and quickly. Our "neighbors" really liked the calamari and even ordered more. The next time we're went we both got a rack of baby back ribs. They were so tender and very meaty. I ended up taking 1/2 of mine back to the condo. Again I got the veggies instead of the coleslaw and we went for that wonderful cheesecake for dessert. We shared a large beer which tasted so good on a hot day and it went well with the ribs. The bathrooms are small and old but air conditioned! They were just hard to tell if clean because they were so old and the tiles they used were so worn. Full service bar. A good place to take the family. Credit cards accepted. I'll be asking...

Ended up here for lunch, I say that because it didn't jump out at us as a must go here but instead as a I'm hungry now and here is this place. Also these days I find restaurants to be wham bam thanks for putting up with us during the pandemic. So now that I've set my arrival mindset for you here's how it went. 4 of you, thanks for being here we have a great table outside for you! It was perfect! Charming welcoming attitude! We asked about the appetizers and she recommended calamari.. we had two orders. Now, I'd like to think of myself as a connesuer of these crispy squid bites (I'm a fan of the tentacles and my husband, the rings) we were served long strips of the meat. Very tender long juicy crispy on the outside strips! OMG, f...in delicious. I am thinking this is the best calamari I've ever had in my life. Hmmm, what for lunch??? I'm just in a simple fish n chips kinda mood.... the fish of the day was Mahi Mahi but I read the fish n chips was Ono and I love Ono seared so what the heck.... People!!! Not sorry a bit that I ordered the 3 piece even though I was feeling full after so much calamari... BEST FISH N CHIPS EVER! Every single bite was literally amazing.. so fish steak like... melted in mouth... I looked at every bite, so perfectly white and firm it was " Oh My God" delicious. Everyone felt the same about their meal... all n all One of the best eating experiences of our vacation. Our server; a lovely super knowledgeable woman whose been on the island about 15 years... we talked about flora and fauna too and the wood rose plant... Loved loved loved our...
