Pohaku Park — Attraction in Maui

Pohaku Beach Park is a beautifully placed beach area nestled near a series of condos, relatively quiet, 1 acre park. Turtles 🐢 are commonly found here but beware of sharks.

Parking area fits maybe 20 cars and nearby parking is recommended. It is best to walk in. A nice destination point for anyone staying nearby. Waves hit close to shore and rocks are present on sections. No lifeguard for swimmers. A handful of picnic benches can...

Nice surf spot. The waves are much better at low tide. Took my 12 and 10 year old twice. One day wind was just low enough, but the second time they really struggled to stay in the peak area, and I just imagined them getting cared down into the rocks to the south. The sandbar that forms the S-Turns you can stand on waiting for waves. Helps when the wind is strong enough to wear yourself out...

there’s a group of surfers here in the morning 🏄‍♂️ watching them flying on the ocean with ease in harmony with nature, simply brings me joy and peace.

The turtles are so big. Sometimes I had to ask, is that someone snorkeling or is that a swimming turtle 🐢?😂
