Quick friendly service; lively oceanside open atmosphere, but food was mediocre. We had the Baja fish tacos and Philly cheesesteak. Cheesesteak was good although the cheese was processed cheese (white American or cheese whiz were options). A better quality cheese would have made it great as the steak, peppers, onions, and bun were top notch. But too much processed cheese overpowered it. Maybe less cheese at least. My wife was excited to find Baja fish tacos as most fish tacos on the island have grilled fish and we like the battered fish. But she was very disappointed. They came on large flour tortillas; not the smaller taco sized. But that made them easy to eat for sure. But it had cheddar cheese. Who puts cheddar cheese on a fish taco? The pineapple salsa / pico de gallon / and type of fish didn’t tell. Flavors were just off. Couldn’t finish. Were use to having battered cod for fish tacos and I think these were Ono so a different flavor. Maybe this is the type of fish tacos that others are used to and would be great for some but it just didn’t work for us given the type we’re used to.
That said, server was on the ball: Quick, kept checking on us, price is reasonable, etc. Food came out very hot … wasn’t sitting under a warming lamp for long. We still employed the place, just disappointed in...
Read moreLet me start off by saying the food was honestly pretty good. I had the crab cake appetizer platter which was yummy and a pretty mediocre salad. My concern is this: I ordered what I thought was a mocktail lemonade after the server specifically said you were able to get any of the cocktails non alcoholic. When he asked “Regular?” after I said the name of the drink and I answered yes, I thought I was simply confirming that it was strawberry and not regular lemonade. However, after a few sips I quickly realized it was alcoholic. After confirming with the waiter who did not seem to care at all, yes, he served me alcohol WITHOUT carding me and I am very obviously under 21. While this could maybe be excused as me simply being on vacation with my parents so he didn’t think to ask, I really don’t like this carelessness. We also sat by the pool in the resort and were constantly being splashed by the obnoxious children because there was no barrier between the pool and...
Read moreStarted our visit during Happy Hour, and were seated at an window seat with a view of the pool and ocean. We ordered a couple of well margarita's and some mango habanero and sweet Thai chili wing appetizers. The margarita's were as expected for well drinks and the wings were hot and tasty. For our second round of drinks we ordered a Four Roses whiskey sour (only $1 surcharge over happy hour) and spicy well margarita (no surcharge) and found both very tasty. Lastly, we ordered pork sliders and a house salad, which were also very good.
Our waitress Kaylia had an awesome personality and we enjoyed chatting a bit with her, which added to our awesome visit.
This is a new location for Captain Jack's, which lost there previous site across from the Banyan Tree, and is nice and clean. We highly recommend and will definitely return to Captain Jack's on our next...
