We (party of 4 adults) were at Dollie's Pub & Cafe (Maui location) for a pick-up dinner order (one large pizza and 2 sandwiches) at 8p on Fri., 9/24/21. We had placed this order ahead of time to carry out as we were skeptical to eat inside the restaurant due to Covid concern. We are fully vaccinated and presented our vaccination cards in spite of this being a carry-out order.
We were asked to wait outside the restaurant and we did. An hour later, we decided to inquire on the order status. I went inside and asked the manager who treated me with an extreme rudeness "Do you see our place is crowded? We still have people eating here. Wait outside! We will call you when we get to your order."
I went outside again and stood outside with my family. No change in the status during next 30 minutes (by this time it was easily 90 minutes of wait). To our biggest surprise, 2 other parties just came in and were seated right away. So I was worried if the manager forgot about our pickup order. I went in with mask on to check on my order. The manager treated me with the same rudeness and I was TOLD "Wait outside. I will bring your order outside when we get to it." BTW, it was a command and not a question.
It was now nearing 9:30p and we were wondering for our other options, however, this was a prepaid order and we were stuck. At 9:35p, I went inside with mask on. The order was mysteriously ready on a side table. As I entered the front door (the manager did not notice me walking in), I saw the manager spitting on the pizza. I walked to him and asked, "Is everything alright? Why are you so rude to us?" He rolled his eyes and said "Your order is ready." I asked, "Didn't you say you were going to bring it outside to us?" His response, "We are busy!" I picked up my sandwiches and left as I saw no further meaningful way to work with the rude manager.
I then filed a complaint with my credit card (Fidelity Visa), provided them with details, and disputed the charge. Fidelity reached out to the restaurant and within a week, the case was resolved. In my favor! We were given a full credit.
As much as I want to (and really compelled to) post some profanity here in my review unlashing against the rude manager, I am controlling myself to remain civilized. Just avoid this place if you can! There are much better restaurants in Maui to dine at and moreover much better service which we experienced everywhere else! Probably it is just one bad apple and it is an isolated case.
Overall our trip to Maui was extremely memorable and pleasant and I do not want to think about this...
Read moreWhen we first went to Dollies, we had a great experience. Danny is amazing, welcoming, and a phenomenal bartender. He is on it. He is the reason we continued to come back. On Thursday, we hiked Haleakala and came back to our condo, and we we're starving. We got to Dollies around 8 pm. My husband ordered the rib special, which was $17.99, and I ordered a salad that was $13. 99. My husbands food was amazing. My salad was missing half of the ingredients listed on the menu. Abraham was our waiter. I'm not sure he is aware of anything going on around him. He ended up giving our bill to the table next to us, which was a couple and a kid and considerably cheaper. He then comes to our table and tells us he accidentally gave them our bill so we have to pay theirs. He also stated their bill was $10 less than ours. It wasn't more like $30 more. I asked him if he was kidding, and he said no. Mind you, I've been a bartender for 27 years, I know how this works. You don't just give another table someone elses bill if you screw up. Mind you, it is 9:30/10 and every 21 year old (if even that old) is in the bar now. We couldn't get any attention from anyone, so we paid and left. We go back 2 days later for happy hour. We decided to bring the receipt to the waitresses' attention. She was a little blond waitress. We told her specifically that we don't want our money back but that they should know. She comes back to the table and says the manager told her that we should come back Thursday and talk to Abraham, that is, if we are still here.... she definitely had an attitude. It's kind of hard to do that since we are leaving the next day on Tuesday. I asked her for a food menu, and she literally tosses it on the table. Then she proceeds to ignore us and make us feel unwelcome. So pretty shady. Watch your bills unless, of course, Danny is there. He is the real deal. I can't say much about the little blonde and Abraham. Wish I could post the picture of the receipt, but I don't see an option to do that. Go to Miso Phat in the same plaza. AMAZING FOOD AND SERVICE....
Read moreWe had tried to go the day before, but ordered to go. Person at the counter (bald guy with no mask) was rude, but food was good and we were close by. Next day, we walked in 30 minutes before the kitchen closed (never told that the kitchen closes at 9, the place closes at 10) after waiting with a reservation. Gave us menus, we order apps at 8:40pm. By that time, we were ready to order, but the waitress rushed away before we could say anything. Waitress forgot about us and never took out order. By the time she came back to check on us, it was 9:10pm and the kitchen is closed. I understand the kitchen closes early due to Covid, but figured we could get our order in with 20 minutes to spare. She said she thought we were "only having appetizers", although we still had our menus ready to go.
Manager/owner was no better. He was passive aggressive and said the kitchen was closed and there was nothing they could do. Okay... So maybe they will comp our apps for ruining dinner? Asked them if they would and she said 'okay'. No. Gave them our card and charged the whole thing. I'm not trying to get free stuff, but literally ruining dinner... I've worked in the restaurant industry for 7 years, 3/5 of the guests own a restaraunt, and the other guest worked at a restaurant for 2 years. Horrible customer service. If you hate tourists so much, don't own a restaraunt right near tourists......
