Haui's Life's A Beach — Restaurant in Maui

I came here with some other people. When we were seated and I was pouring the water from the pitcher into my glass, it overfilled and ice cubes fell on the table. In an attempt to clear them off before they melted and made a mess for those around me, I slid them to the floor. The waitress nearby made a comment in an annoyed/rude tone "Can you not do that? People can slip and fall." Then, another employee came over to sweep up the ice and started reprimanding me under his breath saying "What were you doing? This isn't your first time at a restaurant."

Later, when the waitress came to take our order, when my friend had asked if she could get onions added to her quesadilla, she flat out said no even thought they have them in their food items at the restaurant. It didn't sound very accommodating. She took the order of the three other people sitting at my table but left without taking mine. My friend then went up to her and said "Excuse me, you didn't take her order" pointing to me, to which the waitress made the excuse "Oh I thought her and the other girl were ordering together because they'd spoken in their native language when I took the girl's order." When she came up to me and I told her it would have polite if she'd taken mine as well, she said sorry sarcastically.

Needless to say the disposition of the workers here was clearly rude and unaccommodating. I was appalled by their service and have never seen anything this poor before. We felt perhaps we were treated this way as we are people of color. I would not recommend this...

Will not go back. Rated for poor management on Friday 3/8: discrimination and inability to justify themselves appropriately. I had no substances in my system and was prepared to call the police to have a breathalyzer test, however I was out to dance and have a rather good time... I spent the next four hours dancing and throwing darts in a bar next door. I made a made a comment to a bouncer there on their vigilance in scanning the bar. They said, thank you. (For owners/management: I was escorted out by a very intimidatingly large bouncer who said "sorry I'm just doing my job, the manager wants you out for 'stumbling on dance floor'". I was sitting on a stool watching a women's tennis match while waiting for the band to set up. I had no substances in my body. I asked to speak with manager whom said I was "stumbling on dance floor", they bouncer went back inside came out and told me, "she said, not now, come back after work. Sorry I'm just doing my job". I left confused, unheard and disappointed at the judgement and lack of follow...

The tacos here for Taco Tuesday were delicious. The location is great, very close to the beach and shops right down the road. Very friendly people that we interacted with around the restaurant. However, we would likely not return to dine here. Our server was attentive, but a bit sharp when we asked to clarify something on the menu. She also referred to us as not being “cool” because we didn’t order Mai Tai’s. We didn’t think that was very cool. Food took around 35-40 minutes to come out. They also didn’t get my friend’s order correct and overcharged him, at least in accordance with what the menu said. Our table was outside right in the sun, and while other outside tables had umbrellas, ours did not. It was not a terrible experience - but was not our favorite restaurant we visited while on Maui.
