A popular spot for obvious reasons, Island Cream Co has made a mark for itself by serving up delicious ice cream and shave ice in the area. Parking in the area is abundant and the place is clean despite syrup stations being out in the open. The shave ice is self serve on syrups so you can go crazy on yours or just add light flavoring. If you want ice cream or anything else they will prepare it in full for you behind the counter but beware of any allergies as we saw a worker scoop different flavors with the same scoop after the first scoop had touched one with nuts.
We ordered multiple different flavors of the ice cream and most were pretty good. They do also include a rolled chocolate wafer which was a nice touch for those who enjoy it. For those in our party who ordered the shave ice, they said it was good as well. The seating is a bit limited in the store so beware you may need to wait or take your stuff to go. This place has very good bones and I think one or two changes would make it even better, they have a unique product and we would recommend giving it a go if you’re...
Read moreThis charming ice cream shop offers a wide variety of unique and tropical-inspired flavors. You can sample them before making a decision, which is great because it’s hard to pick just one! We tried their banana chip, mango, cookies and cream, Ube, and pineapple cream. All the flavors were delicious and not too sweet. They call themselves “island cream” which they describe as a hybrid of ice cream and gelato! Banana chip, very interesting! Banana ice cream with chocolate chips in it, the chips weren’t large chunks either. Mango, tasted like mangos and cream. Cookies and cream, tastes like the usual cookies and cream haha. Ube, this one was delicious and tastes ubey? (Is that a word?) Not too artificial of a flavor Pineapple cream, this is delicious! I really liked this flavor as it was like a pineapples and cream type of taste. Wasn’t too sweet or tart. This is different than a dole whip, it is much more creamier.
Overall I would come back again. Typical prices for the area, but it was a good...
Read moreI’ve had gelato in Italy. I’ve had Graeter’s in Ohio. You name a midwest small-town-best-in-show creamery, I’ve been there, done that, loved it all.
Island Cream Co is in another league. I would pay double their prices and still feel like I was getting a deal. Every bite was simply exceptional, and don’t even get me started on the perfectly flaky and flavorful cones that hold together juuuust enough before melting in your mouth with every bite.
Is your mouth watering yet? No? Then I dare you to try a sample of the pineapple cream flavor, made with real Maui Gold pineapple. Or the coconut poi that will blow your socks off. Or the turtle flavor, which—according to my husband—“made the whole trip to Hawaii worth it by itself.” Reaching the bottom of the cone felt so sad… like saying goodbye to a dear old friend.
I never write food reviews (lol because who has time for that?) but I had to spread the word—this place is literally...
