We dined in this place a few days ago. The owner was decent. But the hygiene was terrible. I found a small COCKROACH in the plate while the food was served, I told the server immediately and he just removed it from the plate using his hand. I didn't make a big deal out of it because the insect was not in the food. I should have - maybe next time.
The place looked dingy too. The table clothes had dried food on them.
We ordered some parathas and it didn't come with any curd or achar(pickle) which is typically served in our Indian restaurants with parathas. When we asked the owner they said that he had done extensive research and no restaurant in this place serves any like that with parathas and that we need to order any side dish separately. (We were not expecting any curry. Just some curd or pickle which is typically served. In my opinion, it was like serving tortilla chips without a dip in a restaurant).
Today we dined in Honest and they served curd and pickle with their parathas - their parathas had more stuffing and tastes MUCH better than Taste of India restaurant. So the owner really didn't do their research.
Disappointed with the quality, hygiene and substandard service.
I am glad (and surprised) that a lot people who have written the reviews find this place nice. But i find this...
Read moreOMG! I love Indian food! It’s really hard to find a good one! My favorite was a Dallas restaurant recognized as a consistent 5 star and I have frequented for probably 20 years, but it has faultered in its freshness over the last 5 or so years and I don’t visit often anymore. I have moved to far North Texas but drive to McKinney for shopping and good eating out (an area my lovely town lacks!). I happened to notice Taste of India from the freeway in a passing glance and my tummy drew me in. Well….it was the absolute best food I’ve had in a long time. Freshly made per order! No sauces sitting in a pot, no warmed up chicken, no squishy vegetables, just outstandingly DELICIOUS! I asked the Chef if he had heard of my previous favorite as I was to compliment him on that level of food that I experienced in the earliest time period that I had experienced it being the best, and GUESS WHAT? Abdul was the Chef at that restaurant when I recalled it being at top of its game! HA! Sooo….I have found my new go to for my favorite genre of Indian Food and will enjoy going back time and time again!! People GO!!! You will not be disappointed and will find a new favorite like me!!! I’m hungry for...
Read moreRead all the negative one star reviews, and honestly wouldn’t pay them any mind. I’m very selective of where I leave all the 5 star reviews, but this one is deserving. My family has been coming here for years, since I was in middle school and I’m now an adult with my own family. The owners have been the same, always comes out to see how everything is and check on us. Beyond that, the food has always been incredible. My husband had never had Indian food and now anytime we are in the area we try to stop by for dinner, as it’s become a favorite between us. The lamb wrap is absolutely delicious. I will say yes prices have gone up in the few years but nothing crazy, I’ve seen worse and paid more for not so good food. We typically get the platters/feast they have, I get the non vegetarian platter, has a good variety of all my favorite dishes, like chicken tikka, samosa, etc. They used to have a buffet, but closed it down due to covid a few years back. The owner mentioned they’re trying to bring it back, but when they had in the past it didn’t go well (food wasted etc) which is understandable. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for great...
