I went back a few times to see if the cooks were still present. We haven't seen them. The girls who were treated poorly decided to go back over two years later and give it another shot. It looks like the owner took this review seriously and we appreciate it. The owner obviously cares about how customers are treated. The girls were a little nervous, so we ate inside. Everyone was very polite and kind. We are now frequent customers again and have had nothing but good experiences in the last few months. 5 stars again.
Please, see my others reviews. I'm pretty generous with 4 and 5 stars. It's rare anyone receives a 1 star.
I'd give Nancy Joe's in McMinnville 0 stars if I could. We use to go weekly because we like the burgers. The owners, I'm sure, are not as aweful as their employees. We will never go to the McMinnville's Nancy Jo's again as long as the employees who offended are there.
One of the burgers was accidentally made with bacon. One person with us was Jewish and can't have bacon for religious reasons. It can't touch her food. My daughter explained that to the cashier and asked him to remake it, as it was their mistake. He looked at the receipt and acknowledged that is was their mistake. I watched the interaction, and I don't think they realized it was my daughter, because she's black.
The cashier showed another guy our recipe, affirming it was their mistake. He said come back in 10 minutes. She tried to give him back the burger and he said to "keep it". During this time the Cook's constantly whispered and glared at her but she was being perfectly polite and continued to be so.
I eat the Impossible Burgers when I go, so the wrong bacon burger was going to the dogs.
She walked back in ten minutes later while on speaker phone with me. The cashier said "oh, it will be ten more minutes. We thought you left." According to her, the cooks were still glaring and whispering to each other.
With me on speaker phone, she came back in ten minutes and the kid said "actually, they (the cooks) said we DO need the burger we gave you back." I came in and gave it to her. TEN MORE MINUTES! The Cook's behavior didn't change.
We both came in the final time and they finally gave us a burger. The Cook's glared and whispered, until they realized she was with me. It stopped immediately. We opened it in the car and it was ice cold and when we opened it we could see where they took off the bacon, rewrapped it and gave it back.
The person it was for was in tears, as her religion wasn't taken seriously and as a person she was disrespected by their actions and the lack of resonable service. She didn't eat that night. I felt horrible because I recommended the place, as I go all the time. I am 52 and had worked in the service industry my entire life from 15 to now (hostess, waitress, bartender, massage therapist, esthetician, and registered nurse) so, I am very patient with how I'm served while out. I always tip and understand that people have off days.
This was not an "off day". It was the most horrible service I've ever experienced in my life. It was beyond 'an off day". It was absolutely unacceptable. The kids in the front were polite. The cooks in the back were horrible.
The cashier was very nice, apologetic, and embarrassed by his coworkers behavior. We were polite the entire time, so there was no excuse for their behavior.
Both cook's behaviors were unacceptable, and I'm pretty sure racially motivated, because when they realized she was with me the whispering and glares stopped (the scowling did not). They are a liability to...
Read moreUpdate: The owner appears to have removed some of the most vile responses, but not all. Which means, they acknowledge what they're doing is wrong, but they still stand by it.
Original review: The food is 4-5 stars, but the owner is clearly a horrible person, so we won't be giving them anymore of our money. Let me explain.
We're new to the area and someone recommended Nancy Jo's so we tried it for lunch today. There's lots of good things to say about the food: the onion rings were the best we've ever had, the burger and toppings were fresh (but needed seasoning badly), the sausage corn dog was good, the fries were great and plentiful. Everything we ordered was made properly with our special requests. Even though the place was not busy at all, it took 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us in the drive thru, and 20 more minutes to receive our order (according to the receipt.) Still, I came here to write a good review because we would eat there again, BUT...
...then I read the reviews here. Positive reviews get a "thank you" from the owner, but all negative reviews get these long strings of letters that look unintelligible at first glance. Perhaps the owner thinks we're not smart enough to figure it out, but all I had to do was imagine what the trashiest person I know would say to insult someone, and it was easy to decipher what the letters say. The owner is insulting the customers with some of the most vulgar, sarcastic insults I've ever heard. Many of them are too trashy to repeat, but one of the milder ones said "lmgyatsyccii" which stands for "let me get you a tissue so you can cry into it." Or "Tygfyafsbtdwyful" which translates to "Thank you, go fck yourself and find something better to do with your fcked up life." There's lots of "go f*ck yourself" and other disgusting responses surrounded by other words to disguise it. They don't even have the courage to write out their response, probably because they know they would go out of business if people read it.
Ask yourself what kind of person acts like such a vile juvenile delinquent when faced with legitimate complaints from paying customers. There's not one, single negative review that was unfounded. All the complaints are for things that legitimately should not be happening, but the owner responds not with apologies, but with insults. It's almost as though they've been hacked, except it's been going on for YEARS and all the responses are very similar in their abusive language and tone, so it's clear that it's the owner.
Nothing can ruin a small business faster than rude employees (which seem to be plentiful according to the reviews) but you can hardly blame them for being rude when even the owner treats customers like dirt. They set an example for the employees that you can abuse customers without impunity and you don't care if they paid good money for proper food, because you just don't care about people in general.
In summary, the food is pretty good but it's not worth giving your money to an ignorant, rude, sarcastic, disrespectful, uncaring owner. We will never give them our money again, and we'll be sure to tell everyone we know not to eat there until the owner publicly apologizes for this outrageous behavior, which will never happen. In fact, I can't wait to see what vile acronym they come up with to insult me this time.
Give your money to a business that treats their customers...
Read moreI would give the the food/portion size of the fries a 5star rating but the service in the drive thru killed it for me. The wait was minimal so I had no issues as I pulled up to the window. Before I could even finish giving the girl my card and explaining about wanting to get some extra sauce she started walking away from the window. I figured she couldn't really hear me since it was a bit busy. Then in comes the highly frustrated customer service rep. I ordered a large fry (according to them, it feeds 4 people) and 2 corn dogs. I asked for fry sauce with the fries and then packets of ketchup and mustard for the corn dogs. Mind you this is my first time ordering a large fry and my 2nd time ever of buying food from there. She hands me the bag and in it contains the food, 1 2oz mustard, 2 2oz ketchup and 2 2oz fry sauce. I noticed after she had already closed the window, so I waited maybe a minute til she noticed I was still there. She opens the window and I say, "I only got 2 fry sauce, can I get like 3 or 4 more, I'll pay if needed" she proceeds to tell me that her boss makes her charge 25 cents per container for any more than the 3 that come with it and i already got sauce. Now I'm irritated because she could have skipped the part about "had already got sauce" and just took my damn card for the sauce. I say well I only got 2-- and before I can finish she says "AND the ketchup and mustard!" Umm dude. The ketchup and mustard are for my kids corn dogs and the rude way she snapped back like I was completely ridiculous to ask for more sauce even though there are 2 other people at my house ready to eat these fries too. I feel like this is so petty to be mad at but I work in customer service, there's a right way to handle stuff and a wrong way. And her way was definitely uncalled for. I tried to hand her my card and say it doesn't matter, I'll pay for them, I need them regardless, she stomps over, grabs 4 fry sauces out of wherever, hands them to me and says "JUST KEEP YOUR CARD". I say "you definitely dont need to be ruude--" "IM NOT RUDE!" and slams the window shut.
Like come on, I hate my job too sometimes (everyone gets upset sometimes) but if customer service isn't your thing, then get out. She simply just said "yeah. Sorry about that. Only 3 sauces total come with any order so I'd be happy to get you some if you are willing to pay for than just the three." And that would've been the end. Thanks dark haired girl working the drive thru, you ruined this...
