Annie's Pizzeria — Restaurant in Medford

Don't get me wrong the food is great but they illegally charge a 4% fee when you use a credit card and claim to waive the fee if you pay cash. This is a violation of Massachusetts law section 28A. Does matter has been recently reported. I have been told that is pending investigation. Pictures of the sign at the counter have been submitted as evidence along with video and several receipts. Annie's will end up having to refund every surcharge it received. Massachusetts is one of two states that does not allow businesses to add a surcharge to customer purchases in order to cover the cost of credit or debit card processing fees, according to the Massachusetts Restaurant Association.

Massachusetts General law Section 28A: Cardholder discounts; surcharges; finance charge

Section 28A. (a)(1) With respect to a credit card which may be used for extensions of credit in sales transactions in which the seller is a person other than the card issuer, the card issuer may not, by contract or otherwise, prohibit any such seller from offering a discount to a cardholder to induce the cardholder to pay cash, check or similar means rather than use a credit card.

(2) No seller in any sales transaction may impose a surcharge on a cardholder who elects to use a credit card in lieu of payment by cash, check or similar means.

(b) With respect to any sales transaction, any discount from the regular price offered by the seller for the purpose of inducing payment by cash, check or other means not involving the use of an open-end-credit plan or a credit card shall not constitute a finance charge under section four if such discount is offered to all prospective buyers and its availability is disclosed clearly and...

edit I didnt think this place could get any better but they did! I called to place a delivery order today and they advised they are only accepting cards for deliveries now. Ok, thats no worries I can understand something probably happened. I started going here because they accepted cash but I stayed coming here because they are good and friendly. When the driver delivered to me I had a little note on my bad & a second bag (I only ordered one thing) apologizing for not accepting cash anymore and to enjoy one of their new tacos on the house. That was SOOO thoughtful of them! And it was delicious. This pizzeria exceeds alllll expectations they are amazing.

I wasn't at all excited about the food, but maybe I feel that way because I didn't receive what I ordered and paid for. I ordered a steak bomb (their menu indicates that it comes with Shaved Steak, Salami, American Cheese, Grilled Green Peppers, Grilled Mushrooms, and Grilled Onions). Well....they skipped on the salami and they also skipped on toasting the bread which was requested in the online order. The bread was fresh- just not what i wanted. I paid nearly $14 for a steak and cheese with Grilled veggies and the price point is somewhat high for the quality of steak used. The salami was definitely the missing component and would have made up for the almost flavorless steak. I knew i should have just ordered the pizza!
