I went to this place because it was recommended and we wanted to have a tea party for my niece 5th birthday. Everything was going okay for the most part. Our waiter Stephanie seemed to be overwhelmed because she didn't really check on us other table received food before us ( let's be clear here we were waiting for 2 peanutbutter and jelly sandwiches, 2 kid mac and cheese, 1 kid size pizza and 2 chicken divan) nothing that needed to be cooked long and she never asked if we needed refills. Now it's time to pay and Stephanie ask how are we doing the checks because it was 7 people and we asked for 3 checks. She didn't seem to have a problem with it she said okay and walked away. About 3 minutes later a VERY RUDE IGNORANT LADY NAME MARIA comes out speaking very loudly about how she can't split the check and we needed to just figure out how to pretty much pay each other back after we left the restaurant. We were not okay with this so she claimed she would ask a manager if she could do it (mind you this lady is a no one...she is not a manager, supervisor or even our server). She then comes back still speaking very loudly to cause attention to our table as if we have a problem paying our bill to the point people are now looking at us. As the only black people in this restaurant it made us feel very embarrassed and humiliated, because we never had a problem with paying our bill all we wanted was for our server Stephanie to split the check. WE SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAD TO DEAL WITH THE IGNORANCE OF MARIA WHO SHOULD BE FIRED FOR ACTING THE WAY SHE DID AND MAKING IT A REALLY UNCOMFORTABLE SITUATION FOR THE ADULTS AND THE 5 LITTLE GIRLS WE HAD WITH US. The only thing that made this situation a little better was speaking with the actual manager Dina who was the person that cashed us out. She is a very sweet lady who has a great kind heart who made us feel welcomed after we explained what had just happened. She gave us a hug and apologized for the situation and said that Ed would take care of this and I hope that means...
Read moreI love Miss Molly's Tea Room. I am there often and always order my Cinnamon Orange spice. I was so looking forward to taking three friends so they could enjoy your wonderful teas and great food, along with your gift shop. We had a reservation for 4 at 1:00 When we arrived, The hostess was very mean and said she did not have a table ready??? Although when we glanced back, we saw open tables. I told her I could not stand very long and she VERY RUDLEY offered me a chair. I declined because of her rudeness. We were finally seated after about 15 minutes, But WHY, that's why people make reservations!!!! Oh gosh, here FINALLY comes the waitress. We all ordered our special tea and every ones was correct except mine. She insisted that's what I ordered,,, SORRY but NOOOOOO. I order my same favorite tea every time I visit. She was arguing with me, telling me she made it herself. FINALLY,, I had to get loud and ask her to remove the tea from my table and bring me what I ordered. These two employees that worked on this day 1/18/2017 should not be employed by your lovely business. Your food is wonderful, the atmosphere is so calming and beautiful, your teas are marvelous and your store is quite quaint, I am so sorry to say, that your employees can and will ruin your business. These two ladies, The Hostess and the only waitress that worked on this day, Wednesday January 18th 2017 should be terminated from your Establishment IMMEDIATELY''''''' They have know public relations experience and should not be dealing with the public. I hope this matter at hand is fixed because the next time I visit, I think I will video it, I still cant get over the rude and unkindness we experienced. Miss Molly's,,,, we are counting on you to fix this problem. We love your place and would love to continue to visit for your fabulous tea's and lunch. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PROMPT...
Read moreWhen I read some of these reviews, I was a bit leery about going here. My DDs and I were on college tours and wanted to stop for a break between Kent State and Oberlin. Since we weren't sure what time we would be leaving Kent, we didn't want to commit to the high tea which needs to be made 48 hours in advance.
I emailed Miss Molly's and explained what we wanted to do. I give an estimated time and asked if we could call them when we left Kent. Whomever responded to my emails was very welcoming and willing to work with us.
When we left Kent, we did call. There was no answer, but I left a message stating that we were hoping to be there around 1:30pm. We arrived and found an easy parking spot. The hostess greeted us and thanked us for calling in, then promptly seated us.
Our waitress was a very sweet woman who explained the specials to us. We each ordered a pot of tea. I got the Tea Room Sandwich Sampler which consisted of three heart shaped sandwiches: One of tuna salad, one of chicken salad, and one of pimento cheese. I found them to be freshly made and tasty. In addition to the side of chips, I also chose the strawberry pretzel jello salad which we saved for desert. Both were delicious.
DD1 got the Harvest Turkey Sandwich with cucumber salad. She thought her sandwich was just okay. She expected more cranberry flavor. She did like the salad.
DD2 chose the Chicken Salad puff which came with lemon tea bread. Her side was the broccoli salad. She loved it all.
We also ordered scones which were a bit crumbly, but tasty. We loved the cream and preserves.
The atmosphere was as expected in a tea room which mismatched antique looking chairs and lovely tea sets.
Overall, we enjoyed our experience and would definitely stop by again when next...
