I am very disappointed in the service my husband and I received while dining at the Captain Ds on Sycamore View in Memphis, TN. We both order the three piece battered fish meal with broccoli and loaded mashed potatoes (he ordered hush puppies and I had a bread stick). We also had an order of grilled shrimp. First, our orders were incorrect. My order consisted of one piece of very cold fish on a bed of cracklin with my sides. The young lady that took my order was accommodating and offered to redo my order. After we begin eating, there was a roach crawling on the wall right beside our table (less than an arm length away). We moved to another table and I informed the cashier when I saw her. She advised she would tell the manager. The manager came to our table. She did not apologize but justified why the roach was there, stating they had just sprayed that day and when they spray the roaches seem to come out. She asked if we were enjoying our meal and proceeded to the table where we were sitting and killed the roach on the table. She picked it up and did not clean or sanitize the table. It was almost 20 minutes before we left and she did not come back to the table (as a matter of fact, when we left she was standing idle at the counter). As we were leaving, I asked my husband to get me a to go box. The box he brought back had fragments of broccoli and fish crumbs in the bottom. I asked him to get me another one. The cook handed another container and sarcastically stated, 'see if that one is clean enough', while rolling his eyes. Terrible customer service. Did I mention the number of gnats flying around the tea, lemons and my food? I had to fight gnats while eating - could not finish all my food and left. I will never patronize this facility. And will have to think very hard about Captain Ds again, because this was NOT a pleasant...
Read morePLEASE BEWARE OF THIS LOCATION!!! You've been officially WARNED! When using your card PLEASE pay very close attention after you pay for your food. They (Clifton and another young lady) will tell you that your card has declined the payment when that's not true. It was an incident 1st with Clifton and the GM lied about how long Clifton had been working there stating that he'd only been working there for about 6 months as to explain why the misunderstanding of card payment happened. After reading another review where another customer had a bad experience with Clifton YEAR AGO (and this is 2024) speaks volumes about the GM Rico like was it necessary to lie? Honestly, before leaving make sure you check your bank transactions while there to clear any wrong dealings up right then and there and by all means PLEASE keep your receipt. So far I've only found one young man to appear honest and good at heart.... Lastly read the reviews of other customers and judge wisely before going so you'll know ahead of time what's going on and what to look out for. For myself after reading the reviews (late), I'm going to try another location. Also, try not to do a split payment of any kind like 2 different card payments or cash and card, because they will keep the cash and put that amount as payment on your card especially if the amount is larger in cash. And customers ALMOST never pay attention to it on their bank transactions history. Being that this has been an ongoing problem with Clifton he should've been fired by now, but instead they've made him a Manager Ugh!!!...
Read moreI came in here 08/17/2025 at 2:30 AT THE CAPTAIN D'S SUMMER AND SYCAMORE VIEW I've been here several times and everytime this one worker is here hes very rude,IDK IF HES A MANAGER but I asked him was the fish fresh , because the last couple times ive came here with him working , the food has been old ,, so wen I proceeded t0 ask this time was it fresh , he literally rolled his eyes at me and told me NOT AT THE MOMENT , I asked him for his name , he then started just to ignore me.
