What I ordered: See below How much it cost: See below My experience: I wanted to like this place since I'm looking to eat better and fresher, but I just didn't.
It was my fault to believe that the food would be fresh as stated, but it wasn't...I went inside to look at the food prior to ordering online. It was my fault for not changing my mind after seeing what was available to construct our bowl and pita.
We went around 4ish/4:30 on 1/13/2025. Everything was room temp, even the items such as the meat which is placed in bowls under what I assumed were heat lamps...they kept nothing warm. The oyster mushroom shwarma was cold, the lamb and beef mix was "cold and hard" as described by my 10 year old. There wasn't much flavor from the sauces I had on my bowl, both tahini and tzatziki. Then there were the sweet potato fries. I purposely ordered fries without the Za'atar seasoning after I saw what was available at the counter, thinking they were going to prepare a fresh batch for my order. They were precooked, and I'm not sure how long they'd been there, but they looked old and hard. Well, guess who ended up with them...I was very disappointed.
A young lady came to ask how we liked the food. I told her it was just okay. I mentioned the fries being old, cold, and hard and thinking they were just for display. She tried to assure me that they are made to order, but also stated that those may have been made a little while before they were served to me...mind you, I never left the restaurant from the time I walked in, ordered online, and then received my food...and those were the same fries...from the case...from when I walked inside. She did offer to make fresh ones, I declined. By this time, I was over it all. My daughter liked her pita a little better than how I felt about my food. But she also felt that she's had better pita sandwiches with better tzatziki at Arby's. No offense, and though she likes them too, she's not your usual "chicken nugget/french fry/mac 'n cheese/mash potato" kind of child. She loves an array of foods and tastes, so I'll let that stand as somewhat of a deciding point for anyone who reads this review.
Overall, I was very unimpressed. Great concept, very poor execution, in my opinion. To start a "Fresh Habit", everything should be served fresh. Maybe it was because we came so late in the day, but if an establishment prides itself and also disclaims in its name to be "fresh", again, that's what consumers will look forward to receiving.
Did I also mention WAAAAAYYYYY too much money spent for the quality of food received on top of everything else? I don't believe this is a shock, but I don't see us visiting again despite the 2 "free item with purchase" cards...
Read moreWhen I got the food on their opening day, there was a free food promotion! So obviously I came by with the intentions of supporting a new business. I got the Hummus-Trio Platter, more like bowl.
Unfortunately the food was mid-overall at best, and at worst: the hummus was an AWFUL representation of what traditional and/or well-made hummus actually is.
The hummus came in a variety of mixes; it was all grainy like sabra which is not what hummus is meant to be! Each variety-flavor was like you squirted its corresponding ‘Walmart brand’ coarse-sauce with way too many chickpeas and water; with a dash of sesame paste — from your mom’s British uncle: just to add insult to injury.
The rest of the bowl was a salad mix, a little bunch of cous cous, a little tiny scoop of some shawarma (it was wayyyy to salty) some sauce and other veggies that you can add to your choosing (kind of like making a bowl at chipotle— except this was a way too huge menu and you don’t even know where to begin when you enter).
The bowl — and the hummus 🤢— was a big pile of mush. Just confusing. And none of the sauce or hummus or shawarma helped the flavor of the dish. My stomach hurt after too.
To be honest and constructive, IF I were the franchisees, I’d close the business now. The location isn’t going to cut it; the high price of this California-girl type healthy food isn’t going to fly in this area; and — let alone — this place would never survive in a place like Cali where only quality food should prosper.
Please leave Hummus to the indigenous aunties and uncles that have been perfecting it for a millennia. If you’re a local reading this, go support the various businesses that have better hummus just down the street— my favorite one starts with a C and rhymes...
Read moreSpent 46$ on takeout. We got a pita bread with chicken shawarma, a mediterranean bowl, hummus and pita chips, and a side of falafels. Lots of flavors, and a variety of options to choose from for the entrees. I’m pretty basic when it comes to food, but I wanted to try something different and new. I’ve never had any mediterranean food so take my review with a grain of salt. First off the falafels were absolutely delicious! Perfectly seasoned and I dipped them into tzatziki sauce (very fresh) and it became a 10/10. The pita chips were fresh and thick, pairing well with the hummus. I like that you can choose all the flavors of hummus with no extra charge. The pita bread with the chicken was good, the seasonings made it uniquely spiced. The mediterranean bowl was HUGE! I was surprised due to how inexpensive it is (13$) I got rice, different hummus’s, lemon chicken, a whole huge fried jalapeno, fried eggplant, cucumber, tomatoe, onion, and 2 different dressings. Probably missing more but you can get this bowl stacked. The lemon chicken kind of confused me though. It was a bit cold and shredded. I wish it tasted more like a grilled chicken. That’s on me for not really looking up what it looked like though, it still was good. The bowl was just semi cold and all the different ingredients were overpowered by all the cold shredded lemon chicken. Anyway, I think the prices are worth it. I am going next time but will be trying a different bowl. I think it’s a great choice for someone who wants something fresh and authentic for...
