My Favorite Place — Restaurant in Memphis

This is my favorite Mexican Restaurant in the Memphis area! Sadly, I live on campus so I can't go as frequently as I'd like, but whenever I have time or I'm around the area, I'm always excited to chow down at my favorite place. As a Mexican, I know authentic made at home by the family cooking, and My Favorite Place puts the same love and energy into their food and their business.

For starters, a true family owned restaurant is always a plus! This restaurant is not a chain, and things are freshly made.

Second, Denis and his family make me and my friends feel like part of the family too. I feel comfortable asking for things like extra napkins or limes, and don't feel like I'm making the staff's day harder.

Third, the margaritas!!! Enough said.

I love getting the fajitas, and my boyfriend constantly talks about how My Favorite Place is his favorite place to get chimichangas.

The restaurant is clean and family friendly. I recommend this restaurant to all my friends.

My boyfriend and I used to love going to this restaurant, but unfortunately our last few experiences have forced us to pick a new favorite place. Denis is great and the food is always delicious, but the waitress named Stephanie (I believe that’s her name, she’s never introduced herself but I heard a customer tell her name across the restaurant today when service seemed to be lacking) has ruined our appetite. She is constantly complaining within hearing distance of customers, never courteous or polite until it’s about time for the check to come (then she makes small talk in hopes that we have short term memory and forget her being absent from our table while we sat there without chips or drinks for 15 minutes), never makes recommendations on things to try, and unfortunately she overall just lacks in speed and skill. She’s hurting your business, and I hope there is at least a talk about improvement with her. She has been our waitress the last three visits, and today was their 3rd strike. Bring Megan back! The food was very good and the prices were very good too. It was a huge portion... so not only did I have lunch, but I have dinner too. The menu has a lot of options, and based on my experience today, I'll be going back to try some more of their dishes. Today was my first visit, but My Favorite Place, is now my favorite place for Mexican dining. I believe they have live music on Fridays, so I think the next time I go, it will be Friday evening.

Alicia was my hostess and she was so sweet. Her son is the owner. Just a few doors down is D & R Bakery also owned by her son. I was too full after lunch to think about Mexican dessert treats, but I might have to pop in to the bakery tomorrow and try some of their deliciousness.

The final part of my review is their signature grilled margaritas... I have never had a margarita that good before. It's even prepared tableside. I had to have a second one. I think My Favorite Place is quite the little...
