Foods great! That’s really the only positive thing I have to say about our experience. We did pick up about a month ago and it was amazing so we thought we would go in to eat this time. They were quite busy for a Thursday with children running around like it was a playground. We didn’t even care about that. Our server, Jamal, was probably the least attentive and negligent server I’ve had in a long time. Had an AirPod in his ear the entire time. Whether he was actually listening to something or not is not the point, it shows he wasn’t paying attention. If the AirPod didn’t show it, the fact that he didn’t look at us at all and would sit stuff down and immediately leave the table while we are trying to get his attention with verbal and visual cues. We waited a very long time for things such as our boxes, which we ended up having to get ourselves. He eventually brought some after we already had them, but this happened with salads too. To top it all off he switched our bill with the table next to ours, charging us basically double the amount and when we all tried to get his attention he disappeared again. When he finally showed up we told him about it and all he did was switch the receipts and walk away. Not refunding the checks or anything like that until we all finally flagged him down a while later… again. There was no offer to make our experience any better at all. Just a quick apology and he disappeared year again. Worst service ever and it may be a while before we are back because of it. Will probably just...
Read moreI was really looking forward to my meal here because I kept hearing really good things about them, I was in town for the day from Nashville but I didn’t have a good experience. I made a Togo order and the hostess was pleasant but not too much longer after she put my order in she left the hostess stand and NEVER returned. There were so many parties that were coming in, waiting and leaving because they were waiting so long for someone to come and greet/seat them. Some of them were walking around looking for someone to help them as well and even asking everybody around them if they’ve been helped or making comments such as this is ridiculous they won’t be open for long. I waited 40-45 minutes for my Togo even after I received a text that it was done at 20 minutes. At that point I went and looked for a server and requested for a hostess or a manager to please come to the host stand. When Ms. Jessica (the manager) finally came up I expressed my concerns with her and she literally smiled/giggled in my face!!!! It took another 10 minutes or so for someone to finally bring my food. A completely different hostess/server came up and began to take over so that was appreciated. I got my food and left but the cheese sticks and my pizza slice were cold but the spinach dip and the Brussels sprouts were really good. The customer service, attentiveness, emotional intelligence, sense of urgency was not there...
Read moreThis location does not take same day reservations, so be aware of that and try to plan accordingly. When we arrived were told a 20-30 minute wait, and we didn't mind waiting. It ended up being about an hour wait, but our kids did fine hanging out watching AFV channel and talking amongst ourselves.
The service was sufficient, but nothing spectacular. They took orders, brought drinks and food, but weren't friendly or rude; just neutral, I'd say.
We ordered cheese bread, garlic knots, and 2 deep dish pizzas (First Timer and Windy City). We all enjoyed the appetizers and pizzas. Be forewarned that the windy city was extremely garlicky -- I'm talking cloves that were almost whole, and possibly an entire bulb stuffed in there -- and I say this as a garlic lover, but it was overpowering. It had great flavors, but there was just way too much raw garlic in it. The first timer was good, but spicy for several of the little kids who had a hard time eating it; I ended up removing the meat for them (they normally do fine with Italian sausage and pepperoni, but Rotolo's meats were on the spicy side for me, as well).
Overall, a fine experience, and not terrible in any way. If we had a craving for a deep dish again (this is the only place we could find locally so far that has deep dish pizzas), we'd probably just order for a pickup rather than wait for a table. (And maybe ask...
