Sabor Caribe is an authentic Venezuelan restaurant located in the medical district. The food is delicious and the service is warm, friendly, and helpful! This was my first time trying Venezuelan food and my waitress was super helpful in assisting me in picking my food. She recommended the arepas and fresh passion fruit juice to drink and I'm so glad she did! All of my food was cooked fresh to order, flavorful, and filling! The arepas had the perfect amount of crunch and softness reminding me of one of my favorite southern things, hot water cornbread! Every bite was filled with meat, avocado, cheese, and goodness! I ordered a chicken arepa and shrimp arepa! I tried my best to eat both but it was so much food that I eventually just had to pack it up to take home! I really can't wait to visit them again and dive deeper into their menu! Plus They have more cocktail options now so I'll obviously be updating the review soon! Lol If you haven't been yet don't walk, run to Sabor! Lol
P.s I love that the Memphis food scene is diverse. Being able to experience different cultures without leaving the city is a gift I hope we don't...
Read moreThis place was recommended by someone who passed through Memphis. I was doing the same, so I stopped. Parking is scant in front, maybe 6 spots. There was a sign for parking in back, but its only accessible from one side. Inside is a pretty barebones set up (But it is clean). Regular tables and chairs, not much decor. The menu has good looking offerings, but mostly the same stuff, but presented differently (pork inside plantains, pork in corn shell, etc.). THE FOOD: I ordered a combo type dish which had an arepa, a patacone, a corn pancake with cheese inside and on top, and I think an empanada. The corn pancake was delicious..sweet, cheesy, almost dessert-like. The arepa and patacone were kind of similar tasting. I got pork in both, they both had the same cheese, the plantains were sliced thin and overfried, so the plantain flavor was lost. The empanada was ok. My server was a nice young lady. Friendly, polite. The food came out...
Read moreOh wow, literally just left an hour ago after eating here for the first time and everything was just amazing! Nice clean cozy place with good atmosphere. The staff, especially the lady who took our orders, were all super nice and very helpful explaining some menu items. We had several things which were all delicious, but special mention should go to the excellent (and huge!) Cuban sandwich and the Arepa Pabellon (arepa with shredded beef, black beans, sweet plantains and cheese) was just heavenly- the corn arepas themselves are perfectly cooked and would probably taste great by themselves! Even the french fries were yummy! Also this is one of the few places in Memphis with churros and these come with nutella and dulce de leche and were so tasty! Just an overall great dining experience and definitely look forward to eating here again and trying all the different food- highly recommended! Plus huge free parking lot in back! ...
