Very nice stay at The Moose. Upon pulling in to the parking lot, my first thought was, "Oh wow. Someone is really trying here." Every detail has seemingly been anticipated and accounted for. From the coffee maker to the bedding. Every detail. When we sat down, we noticed the remote for the (huge) TV and a second one by the bed labeled "Backup Remote". Then when looking in the kitchen cabint there was a 3rd (all 3 worked) that was apparently in case someone lost the first 2? Bug spray, chargers galore for phones. Noise machines (it was very quiet). A fan (we did use that. More below), a heater, electric blankets, thick pillows, thin pillows--every conceivable need. We had a nice stay. When we arrived back at the room the second night of our stay, all available parking front and back, was taken. We called the number. The owner, Amit, answered. He said, just park on the street right in front of the hotel--Ill pay for it. Dont worry. That was nice. The second day, we walked down the street (Adams) and struck up a conversation with a guy there (Robert and his wife Teena--who built the townhouses 2 doors down, in the same block). Robert was very complimentary of the owner, Amit, of the Moose. Robert also explained to us that the block included a police dept clubhouse behind the Moose, the sherrifs facilty across the street, and Homeland security in the alley behind--all with high security cameras ("they are watching and are listeng to us now," he said. "Very safe. My grown son lives right here pointing to one of the Townhouses). All in all a fantastic stay and a lot for the money we spent.
Minor annoyances included parking as described above (resolved easily with phone call above). Second was the temperature. Memphis is hot in July and the AC struggled to keep up the first night. It was about 77 degrees in the room by 10 pm and finally down to about 73 by the time we woke up. The second day we cranked down the air and pressed the "turbo" button on the AC. When we got back to the Moose at around 9pm (long day) the Air temp was more like 75 and pressed the "turbo" button again and temp dropped to 73 by the time we showered and went to bed---much better. That is my tip--turn the air down asap and press the turbo button. Other than the parking (easily resolved by the owner) and the temp, everything else was stellar. We will likely be back soon, as we visit frequently to visit our son who is a...
Read more**After posting this review online, my husband received a text. The manager was mad about the poor review, then threatened to have the refund reversed. Ultimately, he threatened to have his attorney contact me before he was blocked. Good luck to you if you choose to deal with this angry man.
We made a big mistake renting from moose apartments in memphis, TN. The pictures online looked nice. The neighborhood seemed acceptable. Then the party upstairs started around 5 PM. The pictures were shaking on the walls. The banging was so loud the television in our room could not be heard. There were many signs posting the quiet hours as 10 PM to 8 AM. As we looked around, we found several packs of disposable ear plugs in the nightstand drawer and in the bathroom.....very thoughtful!! We listened to what sounded like 10 people screaming, stomping and carrying on like wild animals for 5 1/2 hours then contacted management. The manager contacted the loud tenant at 1030. He then forwarded texts to us from them showing that they called us racists because we complained. Not sure why he even forwarded them instead of just handling the matter but he did. Then the noise got unbearably louder. We again contacted management around 140 AM and threatened to call police. After 9 hours of partying, the manager came and kicked them out as he should have at 1030. The manager told my husband this situation has been an ongoing problem. We were given a full refund after wasting approximately 2 hours of our vacation time dealing with the 3rd party booking company. We were also given a full wasted day of our vacation....spent sleeping at a much more quiet rental since we received absolutely zero sleep at...
Read moreWe had an awesome stay in Memphis! We came all the way from Houston, Tx and to be frank, we were a little nervous to stay in Memphis BUT staying at the Moose made us feel so at ease. The neighborhood is in the Victorian Village which is just about 5 minutes from Beale st and man oh man was it perfect. The area was heavily monitored and patrolled with police, just very maintained and controlled. It was a little noisey in the middle of the night from police sirens around but we still felt protected, means police is doing their job. The property had a gate and plenty of security cameras. We felt very safe. The host was very informative, attentive, kind and had amazing suggestions of events, places to eat and do. The check in/check out instructions were very clear. Truly appreciate all the instructions for the remotes as well that was a nice touch. The room was absolutely fabulous! I loved our theme of the room and the decor! Amenties galore and just such attention to detail! The room was so clean and smelled amazing. Took many photos/videos. Parking was easy, we had a compact SUV that fit perfectly. Overall, everything about this place was great and we defintely would stay again! Memphis is really trying to take care of their tourist. Appreciate that 🥰...
