I've been here before. All times prior I classify as 5 stars this time only 3. Prior trips, the food was always equally proportional and fun. The server Nathaniel was excellent and the food is good. The chef, Leo, not so much. I paid for two 3 combos ($30 a piece). We were the first 2 at the table. A family of 5 joined us. They wanted fried rice intead of noodles, the lady even used the word "substitute" . We didnt request fried rice. Yet we recived less noodles than everyone else at the table. We watched the chef give double portions of everything to them before serving us each time. We had to split one size portion of what the other family recieved prior to the second helping. Me and my family member recieved less than even the lil ninja plate portions of the 2 little boys. I could literally count the pieces of broccoli on one hand and my serving of noodle was less than a bowl of Raman noodles. I watched him count our shrimp. But not their's. The experience ruined my appetite, I ate a couple of pieces of meat and asked for a "to go container". It's the first time an uneaten 3 meat combo was able to fit into 1 container. If you have seen the plates there is no way it should have. My plate had less food than the 2 little boys with the lil ninja plates. I just left there an hour ago (before giving this review). I did not say anything to the staff while there. Nathaniel recived a tip and we left. I am African American, I did not want my frustration to be taken as another difficult black person. I spent $92.86 not including my tip to Nathaniel, for second class service. The gratuity that may be (unsure) shared with the chef was not earned. On top of that he made it an awkward environment for us and the family of 5. My 3 star is based on the food and the server. The chef brought down the average. 2 stars removed because of Leo's blatant disregard for us. The show was great. But the proof was sitting right in front of us. I should have taken a picture but at the time I was trying to rationalize what just happened. Atmosphere gets a 1 because it was...
Read moreThis place has really taken a dive in service and food! I have been here many times in the past. This latest visit was my worst experience with hibachi and I have been going to hibachi restaurants for 35 years. Nine of us celebrating a birthday on a Sunday. Steaks and scallops along with fried rice were the popular orders. We also ordered sushi appetizers. The timing of the food was horrible. First the sushi appetizers came while the steaks were being divided and put on our plates. Appetizers... come before the meal not at the end of serving the meal... More on this later. The steaks.... the four of us seated at the end of the table, our steaks were way over cooked. Three were ordered rare and one medium rare. All were plated at the same time. Mine the medium rare was barely pink so the other three were far from rare. The veggies... by the time our chef was serving us there was very little left. For the last person's portion he actually scraped the grill for the brown bits to place on the plate and asked if that was alright. No. No it was not alright. Why would you think it would be? I'm assuming the "manager" came over... she did not introduce or identify herself. This was in response to us sending back the various sushi appetizers. She than gave the reason why the sushi appetizers were so delayed was because the sushi side of the restaurant was busy. Okay... why would you not mention that to us sooner. Like when we were ordering? I hate when they blame other customers for their poor planning. AND... They had a 10 or 11 year old boy behind the bar washing and drying glasses. He was grasping the inside of the glasses with his bare fingers. That can't be sanitary? I actually asked if this restaurant was under new management. I understand the restaurant they opened downtown recently closed so could they be going through changes? Overall? Not good. Find a new hibachi...
Read moreMy standard for Hibachi is a bit high - I’ve been spoiled. So let’s start with this - The food was great. Delicious and fresh. Good amount of seasoning juice rather than dry. The prices are fair for what you get. The staff is so amazingly friendly. Rob and Leo - GREAT! The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because we didn’t get as much as we normally get with a hibachi dinner. It didn’t feel as authentic. What you get is the salad, soup, a rice/noodle appetizer with veggies and your meal. You also get a little bit of a show but not much. There was fire and a squeezy fireman who “pees” water on the fire to put it out. It’s cute. They also try to flip zucchini into your mouth with multiple tries which is nice. Meal is done shortly after and that’s it. Chop sticks given as requested. What we are used to is getting a nice hot towel first and then the salad, soup and a bowl of white rice. Chopsticks and a fork are provided to all at your spot on the table. The appetizer is veggies and shrimp and the meal the same. The chef puts on a show the entire time. Flips food into your mouth, up and in the hat, flipping utensils and more. There are also shots of saki poured into your mouth randomly throughout the show. At the end, you get a choice of a flavor of a scoop of ice cream. So a few differences, and the price difference is $2 and some change. But all in all, it’s good. Rob, if you see this, thank you for knowing just what we needed for the two of us to enjoy chicken, shrimp and steak. Keep up the...
