Alright, I'm a foodie. I'm usually looking for something with an international flair. Lately, I've been craving and looking for meat pies. Empanadas or meat pies are international, but the spice combinations are what makes it different. Nigerian, Jamaican, Mexican, Costa Rican, Dominican, etc. Meat pies are similar but different. So before you dismiss Casa de Mambo, check it out. The Quipes are deliciously tasty and a great appetizer along with the Tostones. Then try the Mofongo de Pollo or their Empanadas. This Dominican restaurant has a lot to choose from, so take a group and share if this is your first time. Casa de Mambo is on my list of local favorites.

I recently had the pleasure of eating lunch at Casa de Mambo in Mesa. The cafe is exceptionally clean. The server is friendly and immediately greeted me. The atmosphere is fun - bright Caribbean art on the walls, a Dominican-American baseball exhibit, and lively salsa music playing. The food is moderately priced, as you can see from the menu, and the wait wasn’t long. I recommend the Cubano. I also highly recommend the Maduros. They were so sweet and delicious. I wish I could have tried some of the desserts because they looked delicious! But I’ll just try those next time. And there will definitely be a next time!

My husband and I saw the great reviews of this and decided to try it. We’ve had Dominican food before but it’s been a long time. This was DELICIOUS. The pollo guisado was some of the best chicken I’ve ever had and the tostones were delicious- I highly recommend paying the extra 3$ to swap out the salad for them. They are so good! My husband got the mofongo de cerdo and loved his meal as well. This was on of his favorite places we’ve been in the valley. We are excited to come back and try other menu items! The employees were super kind and the restaurant was nice and clean.

This is a hidden gem tucked off the street. The place is very clean and inviting while the music added to the atmosphere. I ordered the Bistec Salteado & Maduras. My friend had Mofongo de Camerones and we split a Morir Soñando. I could have licked both our plates clean. I was informed that the Bistec is their specialty but the Mofongo is also a top competitor for different reasons. The Bistec and Maduras complimented each other well and the sautéed peppers and onions added a nice sweetness to the herbaceous meat. While the salad and dressing made me think my taste buds were dancing with delight. Meanwhile, the shrimp of the Mofongo was cooked perfectly, tender and sweet pieces of shrimp with the nice flavors from the cooking sauce melted with the mashed plantains and garlic combination excellently. Lastly, the Morir Soñando reminded me of an orange creamsicle. Not too sweet but more than just milk and oranges. For our first time trying Dominican food, we left impressed...

We tried multiple things they were all good: Empanadas we tried the beef and the cheese. We liked the beef more than the cheese. Fried yucca and tostones were delicious We got the pork chop and the shrimp with garlic, both were good but the pork chop was better. We also got the two different rice options we liked the white rice with beans separate over the rice and beans mixed but liked both. We also tried the country club meringue and the orange milk drink. The orange milk drink was really good. We also got the batata for dessert, it was nice it was like a cold version of candied fresh sweet potatoes with coconut if...
