I don't normally write reviews, but I felt it was my duty as a human being to share my experience for anyone considering eating at this restaurant.
Nothing was great. The wait time was longer than it should have been given that I was the only customer there at the time, and I could only describe the vibe as "neglected Church's Chicken gets a discount paint job," but in the end it was the food. Dear Lord, the food.
I ordered the 3-piece tender combo with waffle fries. The tenders were very large, but after picking one up and having it crack like an empty egg shell, revealing a much smaller piece of meat underneath, it seemed clear that the chicken had been fried twice in an attempt to salvage an older batch. The breading on the outside was a strange combination of sharp, but also soggy from the excess oil. Underneath, the chicken was so overdone I likened myself to a panda, stripping away at a hunk of bland, stringy bamboo.
I was able to stomach a few of the waffle fries before tapping out, determined to at the very least to tide myself over for the $15 I spent, but I ended up quickly feeling nauseated by the oil oozing out of every crispy pour as I ate. Some seasoning would have been nice, at least. Really, any seasoning. At all.
After politely asking for a box just minutes after receiving my food, I considered taking the leftovers home for my dog. But I decided to spare him from the conflict and confusion he would experience trying to comprehend the concept of "inedible chicken." Plus, I really didn't want my car smelling like that place after the ride home. The portion was sizable for the price, but in the end it was just more food that I ended up throwing away.
I was tempted to give this review 2 stars for the sake of the pleasant young man that helped me at the counter, but the food was just too awful for me to justify it.
I'd normally give a place so conveniently located for me a second chance. I like second chances. But for me, the possibility of having a meal even half as bad is still too much of a risk.
Also, avoid the garlic "sauce" unless you're ever asked yourself the question "Can...
Read moreI meant to write this review sooner because I promised the lady at the cash register that I would. In case she's reading this, sorry it took so long!
Anyway, husband and I came here to eat during their soft open out of curiosity. We ordered a two-piece combo, three-piece combo, and FB Madness fries. It took a little while for the food to get to us, but they made up for it by adding an extra piece of chicken per combo, mashed potatoes, rice, and a sample of each sauce. I'll try to give a rundown of each item:
Fried Chicken: crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside, great flavors overall! Loved the FB and Dynamite sauces with it. Some nitpicks: the breading was a little bit dense for my taste, and I can't tell much of a difference between the spicy and non-spicy chicken (our spice tolerance is pretty high, though).
Waffle Fries: spices were just right, loved the crispiness. Went great with the garlic sauce!
FB Madness Fries: it's like movie theater nachos x10, in a good way! The fried chicken bites in it were dry though, and even if they weren't, I think their inclusion might be a little over the top. Personally, I would have enjoyed the dish more without the chicken bites, but I would definitely like to order it again if we have a large enough group to share it with.
Rice: was pleasantly surprised by the Middle Eastern spices that were used here. If you like the rice from Green Corner, you'll probably like the rice here. If you're looking for a more traditional "dirty rice", this might not be it for you. I'm a pretty adventurous eater though, so I liked it.
Mashed Potatoes: admittedly this was our least favorite part of our meal. We're not sure if the gravy was lacking in flavor, or if there just wasn't enough of it for the amount of mash we got. Whatever the case, it was the one dish we left behind when we packed our leftovers.
Overall: our first impression here was pretty good! The staff and atmosphere were very friendly, and while the food came out a little later than expected, it definitely had more hits than misses. I look forward to coming back and trying the rest...
Read moreWell, Friday night we preferred them over green corner to try something new. Here is how it went . They didn’t have spicy tender pieces so was asked if I want regular ones and I said okay my wife ordered chicken pieces with combo versions (drink and fries). After 20 minutes, soggy stuff arrived. She got leg and wing and some other pieces as If it is leftovers and mine was just soggy . They managed make the fries soggy as well which by the way came on one basket and once I asked they said they combined them without asking and they are limited with the containers and can give me more fries if I want more. Then I asked some sauce and they ran out garlic and honey mustard sauces as well. But what was surprising to me was they also don’t carry salt. It’s like she looked into the plastic utensils stuff I mean come on now. Long story short, I went there with big hype, hungry and ended up with soggy, bland, unsalted leftover chicken pieces on a Friday night (it wasn’t even late night that they had a rush and ran out of things. Overall tidiness was subpar, although only was was in the restaurant two tables stayed dirty throughout our stay, napkins were stuck and beverage machine was out of pressure or whatever it is. As We were leaving I felt like we weren’t the only ones who is not happy to be there after our experience including the workers as well as the boss/owner or...
