Our Favorite Regular dine and drinks establishment. We have been regulars for a minute. We love the chips, hands down the best salsa anywhere but it is on the hot spicy side, just the way we like it. In fact we usually buy some take home. The menu is unique and simple, everything on it is good but the hamburger is off the chain, big enough to feed my wife and I. We sometimes order one and share it sometimes to go. They have the best stuffed shrimp and jalapeno anywhere. If you're hungry and want something really good enough for two three or four people get the Sam Bass fajitas. It has shrimp, beef, pork, and chicken Plus Diablo shrimp my favorite on top. You want me to disappointed I guarantee it. This isn't a huge place but it's a very cozy place with some of the best staff, Cooks but the bartender, Caden is one of a kind, a young man that is a hard-working and very likable human being. We consider him a friend and enjoy visiting with him while we're there. The place wouldn't be the same without him. There is another sweet young thing that has always so helpful and friendly, and funny. I feel ashamed that I can't remember her name but I a picture of her and okay so check them out. A good place for a drink, they have some badass margaritas, and lots of Wonderful drinks. Come by on a Friday and you might catch us. It has really helped transform that part of downtown. Only thing I can say negative about the place is there to go margaritas are too damn expensive and caught me off guard when I ordered a couple to go watch the band play. If I'd known I was going to spend $50 for two margaritas and tip, I would have gone without them. On the positive side they were huge and very good. Once a month they have outdoor concerts right behind it in the new Front Street Center with a stage area. Check it out it is very cool with an...
Read moreAs someone who has lived in Mesquite for 5 years now, I can't believe we hadn't noticed this place before now. We went here on a whim after craving elotes and looking up who around us had them. We sat at the bar just because it was easy and the bartender was amazing. I had the watermelon spritz and my husband had the El patron Margarita. Both were excellent. We started with the elotes of course. INCREDIBLE. The corn tasted fresh and the scoop of barbacoa inside of it definitely elevated the flavor. We ended up eating it as a dip for a chip so it was so delicious. The salsa is pretty great too. Not your typical tomato salsa. We then had the big Sam Bass fajita meal, which comes with grilled pork, beef, chicken, and bacon wrapped shrimp. Wow. I honestly didn't have the highest hopes because I'm pretty particular about beef fajitas, but these were great. The big test for me is whether or not you can bite through the beef without having to pull or tear, and you absolutely can. The flavor was great on all the items and putting it all together into a fajita was even better. If it hadn't have been so late at night we probably would have stayed and hung out for quite a while, but we closed down the place. I seriously can't wait to go back. Price-wise, I would say it's a little cheaper than the typical upper-end Mexican restaurant. And speaking with one of the owners, Jason, at the end was a delight. Can you tell I love this place? I'm sure we'll be back within a week....
Read moreFirst time trying this establishment that recently opened and they are good. The establishment is clean. It did take a little bit to get greeted and seated which was ok for me. It looks like there were 2 servers working for a Saturday lunch. Both were very friendly. Just a tad slow at times but if I was in a rush may not be good but I was okay with it. They still were doing their best as I can see. The food itself was very good. The chips were warm and great, the salsa was a lil spicier than I would like but it was tolerable. I really liked how it was not just your typical red salsa, it was a slight brownish color. Also ordered a small queso cup with ground beef which was surprisingly good and well seasoned, had a slight smokey flavor. I ordered the beef and chicken fajita, which came with beans, rice, fixing, and flour or corn tortillas. The beef by itself was really salty but having it with the fixins and flour tortilla balanced the saltiness. The borracho beans were super salty, I substituted the Mexican rice for Cilantro lime rice which unfortunately had a waxy taste/texture. For dessert, the sopapilla, which was awesome! It was light, flaky, and fried and you can put butter and drizzle honey yourself. The only thing that would top that dessert would have been vanilla icecream which they didn't have. Overall, I would come back to try other dishes. Would definitely come back for the warm chips, salsa, queso with meat,...
