I have to completely revise my original review. We discovered this restaurant during its very first week — we live nearby and quickly became loyal regulars. We went every week. We brought countless friends. We even encouraged them to leave glowing reviews so the restaurant could grow and thrive. In the beginning, it deserved that praise.
But sadly, those days are over.
The quality has plummeted. The kitchen has become careless — dishes arrive missing key ingredients, the flavors are bland and watered down, and what used to feel like thoughtful cooking now feels lazy and cheap. Their once-perfect Parihuela soup is now completely inedible. The fish in the ceviche has been quietly replaced with a low-quality substitute. It’s as if they think customers won’t notice. We did.
Still, we gave them the benefit of the doubt, hoping things would bounce back. They didn’t.
Last week, we had what will be our final visit. A new server who didn’t speak a single word of English relied on Google Translate to communicate, got our order completely wrong, and then brought us a check where every item was marked up 30% from the menu. No worries, she didn't forget to add her 20% tip. It felt like a scam.
This restaurant has become a disgrace — a sad, chaotic shell of what it once was. We won’t be back. And yes, we’ll be telling everyone we brought here to avoid it from now on. Watching a place we genuinely loved fall apart like this is incredibly disappointing — but unfortunately, it’s the truth.
P.S. And yes, they are buying good reviews on Google. There's no chance for the place in the location like this to have so many reviews. The place is almost always empty. We tried to help, but now we're not...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at 5 Esquinas, and from start to finish, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. This restaurant masterfully captures the heart of Peruvian coastal cuisine with warmth, authenticity, and an undeniable flair for flavor.
I started with the Ceviche Mixto, which was a true standout—refreshing, vibrant, and bursting with citrusy brightness. The mix of tender fish, shrimp, and calamari was perfectly balanced with the right kick of spice and a hint of sweetness. Every bite was a celebration of freshness and skillful preparation.
For the main course, the Arroz con Mariscos completely wowed me. The rice was perfectly cooked, soaking up all the rich, savory flavors of the seafood and spices. Each spoonful delivered a medley of textures and tastes, from plump mussels and juicy shrimp to aromatic herbs and a deeply satisfying broth.
After seeing a neighboring table, get dessert, we decided to try the Homemade Flan. Silky, smooth, and delicately sweet, it was the perfect finale. The caramel sauce was just the right touch—elegant and not overly sugary—making each bite melt in my mouth.
Despite the looks from the outside, The atmosphere at 5 Esquinas is charming, with friendly staff who clearly care about the food they serve and the guests they welcome. Whether you're a longtime fan of Peruvian cuisine or trying it for the first time, 5 Esquinas is great.

Read moreWe’ve visited this restaurant several times and have usually left satisfied, but unfortunately, our most recent experience was disappointing.
The waiter who attended us was polite throughout, but it was clear to us that he wasn’t familiar with the menu and didn’t seem to have prior experience as a server. He made a mistake by bringing a dish we didn’t order (a hamburger with tacu tacu instead of a steak with tacu tacu). He acknowledged the error and kindly offered to bring the correct dish.
However, when he brought the correct plate, he told us that he still had to charge us for the mistaken order because, according to him, if he didn’t, the cost would be deducted from his pay. This made us feel uncomfortable and pressured into accepting the hamburger to go, even though we never ordered it. Unfortunately, that hamburger (as well as the papa a la huancaína we had ordered) was terrible. The rest of the food was fine.
What bothered us the most was that at the end, the waiter told us that the tip wasn’t included, even though a service charge was clearly listed on the bill. This made us question his honesty and left us with a bad impression.
We hope the restaurant management takes more care when hiring and training staff. Situations like this negatively affect the customer experience and make us think twice about...
