The overall atmosphere and location was fun and chill. At the time of our stay, it was the least expensive option available in the area and we were traveling on a budget so this was helpful. After the experience though, it ended up not being worth the money we spent there in terms of the experience and value. We would have been better off just spending a little bit more on a more established, nicer place. The staff member who checked us in seemed to want to make everything more difficult for us. It seemed like he did not care about our business and it was not his priority to help the guests. When we first arrived (having already paid for the reservation online beforehand), we inquired about parking. The hostel charges $20/day for parking in front of the building, but there is free parking available all along the roads that run parallel to the hostel. Like plenty of free parking options. The employee refused to give us any further information other than to say that if we wanted to park, we needed to pay $20/day. We ended up talking to others who were staying there and finding a free spot to park in one road over. Then the employee gave us a room key but upon entering our assigned room, we discovered someone else was already staying in that room. It was filthy with belongings strewn about the entire room. We were then given a new room. Luckily the second room was unoccupied and relatively clean. The same employee who checked us in was overall uninvested in our experience and providing helpful information. There was supposed to be a free dinner and free breakfast with our reservation but the employee did not mention this whatsoever. Because he did not say anything, we did not know you were supposed to put your name on a list in order to receive the free dinner, so we missed the dinner and did not receive this part that we paid for with our reservation. The breakfast only consisted of cheerios and fruit loops. On the evening of our first day, I wanted to make a drink, as the hostel is equipped with a bar and very over priced drinks. I went to inquire about finding some juice and ice, offering to pay for both. The same employee, however, was completely engrossed in trying to seduce a new guest who barely spoke english. It was an incredibly uncomfortable situation because the employee straight up ignored me when I asked for assistance. Like he looked me in the eyes when I asked a question, then turned his back on me without saying anything. The girl also seemed really uncomfortable because of the language barrier and she genuinely needed help getting to her room and navigating the map and the employee seemed to be taking advantage of this situation. Then instead of helping me to get the juice I offered to pay for, he turned to the guest he was interested in and offered to make her a free margarita. The employee also had a friend who had been hanging out with him at the front desk. It was only his friend, who didn't even work there, who ended up telling me where to find ice. I never received the juice. The same thing happened when I went to inquire about WiFi information. The employee ignored me for the girl he was talking to and I had to get the information from his friend. The WiFi is also not very strong and frequently flickers in and out. There is a hot tub in the courtyard area of the hostel. We thought this would be a nice amenity included with the price of our reservation. We were however completely discouraged from using it upon seeing the state of the hot tub. The water was so cloudy and dirty that you couldn't even see the bottom of tub, which was only like 3 feet deep. Who knows when/if it has ever been cleaned. COVID-19 safety was not a priority. The main thing that made up for this terrible experience was meeting some of the other guests and making some new friends. One female guest told us she got attacked at night on the street there, though. A few days later, after checking through bank statements, a mysterious extra $20 charge was charged to my account. No idea where this came from. Be...
Read moreTo be honest, it's not to bad of a place to sleep in the meantime while traveling. My roommates were respectful. It's odd sharing a room with men, as this dorm is meant to be for mixed genders, but I placed curtains up for privacy, as did some of my other roommates.
Not going to lie, it did smell like pee. I am sharing a room with mostly men after all. However there's housekeeping that comes around to clean and sanitize.
The price that is said to be for the bed for the is not only the amount I had to pay. There's two more fees: one at checkout and another when checking in. When checking in I had to deposit $21 after paying the total for two nights.
This place needs to do better on meals. I understand times are hard but toast cereal and coffee is not enough for breakfast. It would be nice if some other refreshments were offered such as fruits. This place definitely needs to invest in a water dispenser with filter to offer to the guest. Setting up a water fountain for bottles would be a good idea to add too as long they kept up with the filters.
I'm pretty sure this place has mold and I can clearly see water damage. For the price, do not expect luxury experience. Where this location is and how much they charge I can't imagine how much rent/lease is for the building. I bet it's a lot. So renovations would be difficult in my opinion. Idk.
I'm just passing by I wasn't looking for luxury. I just wish they did better on meals if they are going to offer meals and definitely should have water available.
As for sleep 🤔 um a mattress fitter, sheets, and pillow cases were given. It'll be wise to come with a warm blanket
My roommates seemed to be travelers from other countries. There are other guests from other rooms who seem like they are homeless but I can't confirm because that wasn't my business to ask for people's status. The people I have met during my stay all seem kind and respectful.
The photos for the advertisement are misleading by the way. Since there is not a lot of common area to sit, people hang out in the corridor
There are plenty of places to walk to and sites to see.
Even though there was a cop patrolling during night, I doubt they were just watching this hostel. This road is lovely and active. There's bars restaurants hotels nearby. Plus this is Miami, please don't forget that. There's a lot of cops around.
Idk if there's addicts and thieves, I can't fact check that
If y'all are ok with a decent but not luxury stay don't let the other reviews scare you. Make sure to protect your belongings if there are thieves is my advice. The whole world is crooks anyways in my opinion. Ppl are always stealing from others
I hope my review helps. Happy...
Read moreI am so so so so disappointed in this hostel. Americans should not do hostels. There were so many issues in only the two days I managed to stay. From delayed keys to a complete shut down of all doors and locks where if you were outside you were stuck outside. All rooms unlocked giving access to anyone. My first night after partying, I came to my bed only to find that they overbooked the room and when I brought it up to staff. I was told by one employee "I'm off duty, I won't help you", went to other employee who was sleep to inquire what's up and her response someone must have just got in your bed and are in their wrong room, I responded that they all said they have a bed in this room. I had to wake everyone up, in not a good way from the blame t disrespect to not help the customer when the problem began with the staff. It took a few hours to rectify the situation in which their was no apology, just please be patient with us from the one person who was not directly or indirectly involved in any altercation or inquiry. Be very very VERY aware. The food is basic so plan to eat out unless you want chef borardi(canned). The drink selection is so basic and the price is the same at any bar(just take the walk).the rooms never get cold even if everyone leaves for hours with ac on. If it wasn't for the fact that I was on the top bunk near the AC, I was the fortunate one but everyone else suffered. I have traveled outside of the country and no hostel has been more unimpressive than this spot. I don't enjoy writing bad reviews as it gets lengthy but this place needs to figure it out b4 they become a serious afterthought. 1 bad review will start a series of similarities. Please once over your mistakes, it looks to be a place that be its own party spot if done correctly but I don't foresee any changes. I really wanted to enjoy this place but with this review and my name broadcasted with it, they shouldn't expect a return visit nor would I recommend You if your reading this. The only highlight is I met 2 cool International travelers one from Turkey, one from Argentina. The Americans were to shy and to themselves to interact even though one of the rules of the hostel was to meet and greet yourself. All the international travelers are much more engaging than Us, Americans. What is up Florida??? This isn't what I...
