Salt Kitchen & Lounge — Restaurant in Miami Beach

Not happy with my experience at this restaurant and I will never return!! Meal was OVERPRICED!! On arrival manager told us about three dinner specials with VIP pricing. We ordered one of the specials, Latin dinner for two. When the check arrived we were shocked and horrified to discover the meal and two glasses of wine was just shy of $400. And, an18% tip included. Pricing for the special was never presented and our meal was 4x the cost of the highest priced dinner on the menu. I immediately asked for the manager Alex proceeded to make it ALL my fault for not inquiring about the price of each item of food and drink although this was a restaurant with $$ pricing guide. Instead should have a $$$$ (top level on pricing guide). We could hear a couple that was dining close by arguing with each other over the price of their drinks, they also were overcharged enduring the same problem, deceitful presenting a bill with inflated pricing for food and drinks. We happened upon this place because there was a 1.5 hour wait at Joe’s Stone Crab around the corner. It should have been an omen that this place was empty but it was late and we were hungry – on the plus side, one of the toddlers with us was able to sleep undisturbed. The manager talked us into getting a seafood platter for the table that the 5 of us would not be able to finish because there was so much food – which turned out to be an exaggeration. More importantly, the lobster and crabs included had clearly been boiled long before and sat around for hours, as the shells and meat were rubbery. We were fortunate that we were not drinkers because when the bill came we saw that one Stella Artois cost $15 and one 12-oz can of Coca-Cola cost $7 (the menus we were given did not show drink prices). Great experience one day, the next was not. Ordered brisket that came out on a searing hot skillet which was great.

After 20+ minute wait, I expected hot food. First bite was room temperature fat covered in sauce. Potatoes tasted old and reheated in a microwave tossed in lots of oil. Manager asked why I was unhappy, I replied with too fatty. Before I could add it was also room temp, he replies, "its brisket" and walks away as if HE is mad! No apologies or asks if I want something else, just walks away in disgust. Then he didnt deduct the full amount from my tab. I guess the 2 bites I took were $2. Seems he was trying to make a point.
