We picked The Den to celebrate our anniversary and we had at amazing time at Azabu (they have an omakase spot inside the restaurant). Head Chef Atsushi Okawara served us for the night. All of the ingredients were extremely fresh. According to the chef, all the fish were shipped directly from Japan. Everything was delicious from start to end and here are some of our favourites:
Uni, sea urchin - sweet and creaming, a delicacy that melts in your mouth.
AYU, sweetfish - the skin is blow torched to enrich the oil from the fish, fish skin is crispy, strong flavours and texture.
Cutlassfish tempura - sooo delicious. Imagine a CRISPY MELTED marshmallow, that is the best description I could think of when describing the texture of the tempura.
Salmon - I am not a big fan of salmon at omakase because of how common it is at Japanese restaurants. However, their salmon is smoked with pine straw, it added an extra layer of flavour profile to the sushi. Very unique!
Tuna Tasting - no words, especially the o-toro, it was just foodgasm We think that The Den did an excellent job at bringing out the flavours of the fish by pairing them with different sauces and garnishes. Althought the price is on the higher end, I would say it is definitely worth the experience. If we ever visit Miami again in the future, we will be back for sure! *Special thanks to our server for the hospitality! You definitely made our night better!

Read moreThe Den exceeded expectations. It’s a true omakase experience with that signature omotenashi hospitality. We came for the Miami Spice menu and ended up ordering a few extras à la carte because everything was flawless: top-tier ingredients, perfect flavor, and technique. One highlight was the wasabi, freshly grated right in front of us — the taste was next level. You honestly forget you’re in Miami, even though you’re right in the middle of South Beach. Seating is omakase-style around the raw bar, where you watch the chefs prepare each piece with precision. The Den is tucked inside Azabu at the Marriott, with a speakeasy vibe that makes it feel even more special. We had 8 types of nigiri, 2 rolls, miso soup, and mochi for dessert — all beautifully paced and great value for the price. Valet is available. A solid choice if you’re looking for something truly refined without the...

My husband and I were celebrating our ten year anniversary and upon entering the host greeted us by my name (I still don’t know how he knew it) and told us happy anniversary. We got celebratory champagne and entered into the beautiful room.
The chef is incredible and so kind. He explained every dish to us and told us how to eat each dish which I appreciated. We were served 21 dishes, all exquisite. Our favorites were the medium fat tuna and the warm dishes, but there was not one single thing that was below 5 star.
My husband loved his sake tasting and I got the Koi, which was delicious.
At one point I got a stain on my menu and within 20 seconds I had a new one.
The whole team is great and everyone seems to love what they’re doing. Cannot recommend this...
