Honest Review here.
I've been here twice, during lunch and dinner time a couple weeks a part from each other. The building is cool on the inside. Nice brick walls. Food was not "out of this world" I can get food like this from a random cookout at the park. The only thing that really caught me by surprise was the flavor of the steamed broccoli and the service of an older waitress.
Dinner experience: A week or 2 after it opened. Our waitress for dinner was awesome, nice, and attentive. Made sure our drinks were topped off and everything tasted fine. Although It seemed like one of the managers were picking on the waitresses and was being extra about everything. My wife noticed that towards the back room the manager tried snatching a plate from her hand and later tried arguing with her, but she waved him off and kept working. Good for her! I don't know what the issue was, but everything she had done was perfect. He was like the worst version of micromanaging. He checked up on us 3-4 times, walked past our table about 20 times, dude really needed to chill out. It just felt weird too. Food was just... not special. Got a cocktail and the bar tender basically heavy handed it to where it was just straight alcohol, friend wasn't too thrilled about it because they just wanted a relaxing drink. Buffalo Mac and Cheese was bad, Steak tasted like it was made on a real charcoal grill (Not a bad thing, it was good), but that's all it had going for it really. My saying is "If it's a good steak you don't need A1". Here i was, using A1 to flavor it up a little bit. Broccoli was crazy good, somehow they had all of the flavor from the steak packed into the steamed broccoli. The side of Mac and cheese i got was mid, felt like i stopped at Walmart and got a personal cup of ready-to-go mac and cheese.
Lunch experience: I thought ok, maybe they had a busy opening week or 2, let's try again. Again our waitress was really good. She was young and seemed like she was really new to serving. She was nervous, she made sure she double checked our drink orders, double checked our food orders. Everything she wrote down was correct. She made sure our drinks were topped off, took away plates quickly. For what seemed like her first time as a waitress, she was fantastic. Potato skins came out like a hot water pipe, super fresh. I got 5-6 for $13 (YIKES!). Waitress came to check up on us and went to check on the food, twice. Yet when the food finally came, the steak and potato tacos (3) were room temperature and they looked... empty? A couple half inch strips of steak and about a shot glass of potatoes per taco. Also there was hardly any sauce for the chips! You can dip 3 chips into the little tiny shot glass cup and your left with just chips. All for a good $18. WILD. While i was trying to cope with what i was looking at. An older waitress was coming by with one of my buddy's food and the chefs forgot to add his second paddy on his burger. He raised his hand to let her know something was missing, she swiped his hand away and ignored him and focused on another buddy that was missing his salad. He had to speak up before she walked away to let her know the second paddy was missing. We laughed about it when she walked away, but still like what in the absolute F is going on here.
Overall I can't recommend this place, very likely I'll never go back. I'm paying for small portioned, mediocre food. All i can think of is that they want you to get drunk so you don't notice how expensive the price is for how little...
Read moreWanted to give new restaurant a chance. I read a few reviews before visiting to see what others recommend there were some stellar rave reviews. I saw a few negative reviews and assumed it was early opening mistakes/growing pains/one-offs. 4.0 after 80+ reviews at the time.
We arrived after 5 on a Monday and only 4 cars in the parking lot. Restaurant looks freshly painted and new
Our first steps onto the tile floor and our feet were sticking, the floor was sticky the whole walk to the table….spills happen-no biggie maybe they will circle back with the mop. We approach the table and I noticed an abundance of straw wrappers, napkin shreds and food scraps under multiple tables including the one we were sat at in the bar area. The table was mostly clean but noticeable film/buildup on the 1/4 of the table closest to the windows (where the condiments were sitting) like when the table is bussed they skip wiping 1/4 of the table.
We had 2 servers which seemed a little confusing on who was actually our assigned server. I don't recall their names. They were nice. Overall attentive.
Food presentation looked great as it arrived to the table. Server mentioned to make sure I check my steak to make sure it’s cooked as she walked away. I ordered Medium (some pink) the steak was “very rare”/deep red/spongy. I actually prefer my steaks med-rare (pink throughout maybe a touch of red) and hate to send my food back so I usually order medium and am satisfied anything medium rare to well done. Server circled back I showed her she offered to have it put back on grill. They actually brought out a new steak that was cooked to med/med-rare and was better than before so issue was resolved.
My husband had an amazing looking southwest salad I commented I would order that next time it looked so good! He noticed a hair, pulled it out wiped it on napkin on lap. Goes to take his first bite and found the 2nd mid-length blonde hair on his salad. He gave a shiver and proceeded to eat some of the salad as it was his first meal of the day and we were pretty hungry. When he pulled a 3rd med-long hair from his mouth he put the napkin on the salad. The server apologized profusely and offered to take it off our bill and offered replacement meal or dessert. We were visited by a manager that also apologized profusely and again offered dessert so our daughter pleaded to accept the dessert. They removed the salad from our bill too .
The best things were-steamed broccoli-kids mac & cheese, sweet potato waffle fries, and the brownie dessert! My daughter has begged us to go back just for the dessert again.
I hope additional training helps the team succeed in the kitchen. I think the pictures others posted looked really appetizing but we ended up going Chipotle for dinner after our experience.
I appreciate the attentive servers and the manager visiting the table to resolve the issue/follow up after. I know how hard food service industry is and challenges finding good help. I wish the restaurant well. We tipped cash for...
Read moreWe wanted so badly to like this place as it is new to the community. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. To start off, they bring you popcorn when you sit down. Extremely weird if you ask me, who wants kernels stuck in their teeth right before a meal?
Secondly, we ordered the buffalo chicken dip as an appetizer. It was unlike any buffalo chicken dip I’d ever had. Tasted like they poured an entire gallon of buffalo sauce in the dip. The chicken was very rubbery, the consistency of jello. It was also very bland, even when you had a piece of chicken on the chip, all you tasted was the buffalo sauce.
Thirdly, my wife went to order the steak flatbread which has onions and horseradish on it. She doesn’t like either and asked for it without. Well, they make the flatbreads ahead of time in the morning and nothing can be taken off. Which I found surprising, because not many people like onions. Oh, and that’s another thing…almost EVERYTHING on the menu has onions on it. I for one do like onions, but I know many people do not so I was surprised to see that.
As for the entree, my wife ordered the steak and potato tacos since she couldn’t get the flatbread modified as she wished. She ordered the tacos without onion of course (she was actually able to get these without onion!) and with the avocado sauce on the side. Surprise surprise, the tacos came out with both of them on it. As soon as our server set them down I mentioned the mistake to her. They took it back and remade it for my wife. The tacos came out the second time, correctly made this time. However, my wife took one bite and immediately almost threw up. The steak was literally nothing but fat and extremely bloody. Nobody would’ve wanted to eat them. We immediately asked our server to speak with the manager who took care of our entire bill for our horrible experience.
And to top things off, mind you we were here with our just under 3 month old baby, as soon as we were about to leave, the fire alarm went off. We had to hurry and cover our baby’s ears and rush her out of the restaurant.
The only bright side was that the service was okay and my wife got a free Caesar salad while she waited on her second round of tacos, which she said was good.
Needless to say we don’t think we will be giving this place a second chance. Should’ve kept O’Charleys here. I’m not a huge fan of it either, but it is better than this...
