Wow, deeply impressed with my first experience inside the restaurant. First off nice location parking is very adequate, when you come in to So Pizza very cozy, clean and quiet. Very large well lit menu off to your left... Me and my son had decided to come here after going to several places that would not take tap pay and was ridiculously loud. The nice lady greeted us, we asked if they took tap pay she said yes, so very happy me and my son looked at the menu and we chose a extra large deluxe with a side of fried mushrooms....the lady was very friendly and took our order which consists of the extra large deluxe pizza, fried mushrooms, 2 liter of diet Pepsi for me and I believe a root beer for my son. The lady told us that there would be a 20-minute wait so we sat down waiting for the pizza in the very clean and more than adequate dining area. My son has ordered from here before and always had wonderful experiences and had never been inside to eat.... The nice lady asked me if we would prefer the mushrooms served first and I said yes.... Both me and my son used the restroom facilities very clean, very nice and available. After about 10 minutes the lady brought out the fried mushrooms and they were absolutely delicious and hit the spot perfectly.... Reset eating and talking and watching the TV... Right after we had just got done finishing the mushrooms then the manager brought out the pizza perfectly timed, he was very nice and our eyes got big when we seen all the toppings on that pizza.... Which by the way was absolutely scrumdiddlyumptious and superb, the crust was perfect not doey or crunch was perfect, cheese had a great texture and taste to it toppings were fresh and delicious.... After a little while the nice lady brought out a desert on the house I think it was a type of eclair I can't remember what she said it was but I had a type of cream in the Middle with light crust on the outside dazzled with chocolate... This too was very good... And we were pleasantly surprised :-)
Overall 5/5 stars Location 5/5 Cleanliness/Interior 5/5 Food 5/5 Atmosphere 5/5 Staff/Customer service 5/5
Me and my Son very very pleased with our overall experience and looking forward to coming back to So Pizza we fully recommend especially since this is a family-owned restaurant which we give a bonus star for for the owners extra attention to detail including the manager coming out and telling us the type of cheese which is if I remember correctly provolone muenster and...

Dayton is a pizza town, so when pizza is merely okay and not great, it's a disappointing experience. But when pizza isn't even merely okay but worse than that, it raises questions about why the pizza place exists? Well I was trying something new (big mistake). I had two small children to feed in a quarantined household and after tiring day, and I regret serving them the trash from this So-called pizza place.
The pizza looked bland, had minimal toppings, and it tasted bland. The marinara sauce tasted cheap with a hint of salsa (yes, salsa! I couldn't believe it myself.) The garlic bread sticks looked promising, but tasted bland with minimal garlic. The garlic dipping sauce was in reality garlic dipping OIL, with no garlic taste. Everything was just disgusting. I didn't even finish the pizza. Decided to order from somewhere else and have an actually enjoyable, delicious dinner.
To top it off, after taking care of kids and attempting to eat the pizza myself before deciding I couldn't bear it anymore, I called So pizza first chance I got, about 40 minutes later. The manager wasn't there and I was told to call back the next day in the afternoon. I talked to the manager the next day and was told about their complaint/refund policy: only one slice of pizza can be gone and customers can only complain within 15 minutes after the order is placed to be eligible for a refund. SMH
The pizza took 15 minutes just to be delivered. I pointed that out to the manager, to which she acknowledged, but still insisted I took too long to call, even though I explained to her about my fussy kids. And she refused to budge on the one slice rule even though I explained to her more than one slice was gone to my kids before I tasted the pizza myself. She said it's a family owned business (why does that matter) and that no one else has ever had complaints. If it's a family owned business, then the family can choose to supercede policy I would think. I told her I was going to let my folks know to never get their pizza to which she responded that I should go ahead and do that, and that I should also write a review on Facebook while I was at it. Stay away from this place if you value your time, money...
Read moreI went there just the other day by myself as I don't live very far, and I had taken interest in the restaurant after seeing the progress it made up to its opening. The interior was very clean, the decor was simple but certainly unique for a pizza place. Though that aside, I was the only customer there at the time. It was a bit awkward, but that is entirely on me as I never really dine-in without someone to share my meal with. The lovely clerk at the counter helped direct me to the menus and took my order, she answered the few questions I had and was incredibly polite and thoughtful. She even checked up on me after I had sat down, brought my pizza to me, and retrieved a box for what I didn't eat. She was definitely the highlight of the experience, and as someone in the customer service industry myself I firmly believe she did an excellent job. The biggest reason I won't be giving five stars, however, is mostly due in part to the food itself. I ordered a small alfredo pizza with a bottle of Pepsi (much to my delight to see Pepsi products in a restaurant!), and the wait wasn't hateful being only 15 or so minutes. The cheese was nice and stringy, if not a bit bland. The most I could taste of the pizza was the chicken and the mushrooms, both of which were delicious and were the star of the show. I feel as if there could have been a bit more spinach placed under the cheese, more varied types of cheese to increase the flavor profile, and most certainly of all more garlic! I can say for certain though, the pizza tastes good cold; a sure sign of good pizza! Though it wasn't the best pizza I have had, perhaps I've been spoiled by small independent restaurants from my time living in Northern Kentucky; those that have been established for many years and had time to perfect their craft. I would definitely consider going again and bringing a friend or two with me to share the experience though, it's a quaint little place definitely worth checking out.
P.S. They played REALLY old Loony Tunes cartoons on the TVs, like, propaganda in black and white old. I don't think I could've ever imagined a scenario where I was sitting in an empty restaurant eating pizza and watching a cartoon dove beating up Hitler as a duck. 10/10 would want to experience a fever dream...
