The place is well located. The rooftop has a great view. Drinks were excellent and food was delicious. Me and my husband went on a Friday to meet with friends and family the night before our wedding and they had a good time. The place was full. Unfortunately, I’m giving it 3 stars because the service leaves a lot to desire and it wasn’t the same experience for me. We were a group of approximately 25 people. They assigned 1 server to us, a girl called Cecilia who was pretty rude to me (I’m not sure if she knew I was the host of the group because she was treating my husband differently and even giving him drinks “on the house”) One of only 2 people drinking Prosecco, waited for a glass of for at least 1 hour and a half. When I talked to her for the second time about the missing drink she says it was already delivered, meanwhile this never happened. Instead of apologizing, she did the opposite and threatened me to “call the Manager” if I “had a problem”. I told her it wasn’t necessary, because in my mind, for $18 dollars in a tab of +2,200 us I wasn’t going to have that argument with anyone. ( I knew there were going to be many mistakes on the bill and it was going to be impossible to effectively review it) I told her to bring the missing drink but she still put it in the tab, I asked her why is she adding the drink to the tab if the drink was already there but never handed. She insisted it was. So I said ‘Ok’, she insisted again in bringing the Manager to discus any issue I had. Please note that this was in front of all my family and friends. Even before the missing drink part she and another guy were answering to me and my guests with an attitude which I attributed to stress, for handling a big group. And that’s how I got her name, because I asked someone for a drink and he just said “ ask your server her name is Cecilia”. Honestly, servers need a customer service training or refreshment. My mood completely changed after that and made my night much different from what I expected it to be. At least the...
Read moreFirstly I have dined at Astra several times on Sunday afternoons and found the service, food, cocktails, music, the 180 degree views of Downtown + Wynwood amazing. It's a fresh concept and was the reason why I booked a dinner for two at Astra for NYE.
This is where my partner and I, along with many others that night, faced the most disorganized running of a NYE event. Prior to the evening Astra staff followed up with me constantly to confirm my booking and provide sensitive credit card details over email. I let them know that I was uncomfortable but they insisted so I complied.
So it was to my surprise when I arrived for my 9:30pm booking on the day that there was a nightclub like line out the front of the restaurant with no process or system whatsoever. It was a free for all! At no stage did Astra look to create a system on the fly, apologize for how poorly they had organized their event (clearly over-booking) or simply come clean that many of us waiting would not be getting in and seated to bring in the New Year.
It's now close to a week after the event and Astra has not made any public statement or responded to my direct outreach about the night. Nor have they tried to make amends to all of the disappointed customers who were left stranded on one of the most anticipated nights of the year. Presumably people who book to dine at your restaurant on NYE are loyal customers worth valuing and respecting??? But that's not the case here....
Read morelol I had a 10:30 reservation last night for NYE that I never got seated for because I think I should be working there instead of dining there. like do you guys need help?? I’ve worked in the service industry for over 10 years now, and I had just got off an 11 hour shift in heels. yeah, cute I wanted to watch fireworks with my man from a rooftop. yeah, no you will never catch me in this establishment EVER AGAIN. not only am i embarrassed that I chose this place, but I’m embarrassed for all the staff. the hosts, and who ever would randomly show up to the host stand could only say sorryyyy. there was a line outside, and inside in front of the host desk. there were people who hadn’t gotten served since 9:30, people waiting for a table since 10pm, and it was already 11pm by the time I could get next to the host desk. the incredibly hilarious part was there were still reservation slots available on Open Table.. and the girls outside were still selling tickets to let people in! like hello is there no communication?! so yeah.. do not go here until maybe they offer me a position or hire more competent staff because the best part of my experience here was finding the stairs and escaping out the back. and management if you’re reading this, for a small fee I can tell you several ways to improve your business. for now, good luck with the influx of bad reviews from...
