Carbone needs little introduction, especially in Miami, where New York’s Major Food Group has firmly staked its flag in the cultural firmament. These aren’t just restaurants, they’re unofficial (or sometimes official) social clubs, signifiers of clout in a status-obsessed city. At their core, though, MFG restaurants aim to be the physical embodiment of a single word: hospitality. And at none of their Miami restaurants is that more apparent than Carbone Vino, the iconic concept’s new sister in Coconut Grove. Opened at the end of 2024, Carbone Vino is first and foremost a neighborhood ristorante. That much is apparent as you step through the curtained entrance and into a buzzing bar at the front, where the Grove’s unbuttoned after-work set mingles with couples grabbing drinks before their reservations. It’s decked out in Carbone’s signature glam with moody hues of red, black and gold, but there’s a marked sense of intimacy at Carbone Vino—many of the people here know each other, are regulars, or both—a telltale sign of a solid neighborhood spot. That warm feeling carries through to the rest of the restaurant, which is by no means small yet still feels like it could be the home of your eccentric nonno who has impeccable taste: checked marble floors, white tablecloths, extravagant floral arrangements and intriguing canvases abound—and, of course, one of the largest collections of wine you’ll find in Miami. From the mind of MFG’s award-winning Wine Director John Slover, the inventory here contains over 3,000 bottles and 600 selections across pricepoints and styles from wine-making regions around the world. That translates to more wines by the glass versus Carbone on the beach. Unlike that restaurant, you can also sit at the bar and order a meal with your drink. Which brings us to the food. Given its name, Carbone Vino doesn’t veer too far from the original with its dinner-only menu of faithfully rendered Italian hits, but there are a few welcome differences between the two. Many of the institution’s most beloved dishes have transferred over, including the Caesar Salad alla ZZ, Spicy Rigatoni alla Vodka, and Veal Parmesan. But Vino introduces several new dishes destined to become classics, including delicate Zucchini Fritti, a colorful and textural Radicchio & Gorgonzola salad, and a simple but decadent Tortellini Tartufo Nero, to name a few. Service struck the ideal balance of familiar and professional through to dessert, which included a highlight of the night, the Cannoli Sundae. Housemade cannoli soft serve gelato is nestled between crispy cannoli shells, topped with Sicilian pistachios and cherries and served in a frosty glass chalice. Like the rest of Carbone Vino, it tasted every bit as gorgeous as it looked.

My boyfriend and I celebrated our 124-day anniversary last night at Carbone Vino, and it was truly a magical experience from start to finish. The moment we walked in, we were transported — the décor is absolutely stunning, giving off that classic New York, ritzy Italian restaurant vibe. Think timeless elegance with just the right touch of glam. We started with the pepper mozzarella appetizer, which was fresh and flavorful, setting the tone for an exceptional meal. For our mains, we chose the famous spicy rigatoni alla vodka (yes, it is worth the hype) and the Dover sole, which was cooked to perfection — delicate, buttery, and absolutely outstanding. We ended with the signature cannoli ice cream. While it was beautifully presented, it was the one dish I wasn’t totally in love with — but hey, you can’t win them all! Now, here’s the part that made the night feel truly special: I was feeling cold because the restaurant was a bit chilly and I hadn’t brought a jacket. I half-joked to my boyfriend, “If this place were really classy, they’d offer a shawl.” And I kid you not — moments later, a waiter appeared with a shawl. It was as if they’d read my mind. I was in complete shock and incredibly impressed. That gesture alone spoke volumes about the level of care and service here. Our server was kind, attentive, and never rushed us. Every detail of the evening was handled with grace and professionalism. While Carbone Vino is definitely on the pricier side, it’s the kind of place you return to for a special evening — and we absolutely will. Highly recommend for a romantic night out or any occasion that deserves to be remembered. 💕

I frequent the Carbone in Miami Beach quite often and have never had a bad experience there before. I went to Carbone Vino once with clients for lunch and everything was so amazing that I decided to reserve this for my husband’s milestone birthday which was a very important day for him. Upon walking in, the ambiance was great but we found that our server did not make any recommendations to us and only pushed us to order way more than what was necessary (assuming this was cause gratuity is included). Once I’d already ordered quite a few items which was already more than enough for a party of three, she told me it wouldn’t be enough and that we should add more protein to our order. This was a huge mistake as we were unable to finish most of it and left feeling disgustingly full.

The food was not excellent as it had been on my first visit although it wasn’t horrible either. Service was definitely mediocre and lacking but what truly was the cherry on top in leaving a bad taste in our mouth was when my husband left to the bathroom and we ordered a cake to celebrate his birthday. The server said “sure, I guess we can add a candle to it” then another gentleman eventually brought it out and put it aggressively on the table with an unlit candle in it. He then says “oops” realizing it was unlit, left with it and brought it back out lit (all in front of my husband) and sets it down and leaves. Very bad delivery on such a special occasion as well as with something that was meant to be a surprise / personal touch to end our night. To make things worse, right after they brought us the cake, we personally saw all the servers gathering to sing happy birthday to not one but two other parties that were there at the same time. This definitely made us feel as if we were inferior to the other guests . Possibly because we were only a party of 3 and not more?! Either way, we chose this establishment to celebrate a very important day and we definitely did not leave feeling happy or satisfied with our experience. I rarely leave reviews, much less bad ones but I definitely will not be celebrating any other special occasions here nor will I be recommending it to others as I had been prior to last night. You should train your staff to do better… especially on...

Let's start with ate here on 01/10 and become very ill about 2-3 hours after finishing my meal. Upon going to emergency room it was determine that my food contaminated by a person in the kitchen with dirty hands and bad food.

Now start with service, I was seated and (me and date) we were not given a menu for 10-25 min or even greated. The sommelier actually stopped by my table after 10 minutes and asked where the menu were and asked why were just sitting there and brought th server. He probably remembers because he said he has never seen that happen before

Once menu arrived the served insisted I order my whole meal at once. I could not order my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in portions. When I ordered 2 items he insted i absolutely order more (understand it was me and my 90lb date) he said it won't be enough the plates are small which is the farthest from the truth. HE only did that because 20% tip is built in so ordering more benefits him and his pockets.

The ambiance is SOOOOO loud the seating is poor all tables are in the middle of the floor and you have privacy and you very close to together people.

When my pasta came you could tell it had been sitting under a warm lamp for a long time tasted really bad. The pasta was served without a serving spoon as well so i had to wait to get those so we could share at the tables since the server instances we order more than 3 plates. Everytime a new dish came th plates were changed I had ask every time.

Overall this places leaves a lot to be desired and when when I emailed manger. The manger response was "come back and spend more money so we can show you a better time. " Yeah right?! Avoid this over priced hyped up Miami name.

I live, work, and play in Coconut Grove been a local for almost 10 years. You'll have a better experience going do the street to Ossobuco or Ariete

AND HERE IS THE KICKER. I TOLD THE SERVER MY DATE WAS VEGETARIAN AND HE SAID "OH WOW WE HAVE NEVER HAD ONE OF THOSE HERE, YOU MIGHT HAVE SOME TROUBLE ORDERING" WAY TO START THE NIGHT. So definitely don't come here is you have food restriction they are not welcoming and will probably...
