Ultimate Miami Food Guide for Spring Break

Ultimate Miami Food Guide for Spring Break
Frank GarciaFrank Garcia
After living in Miami for almost 3 years and with so many options to dine at, I finally made it to Carrot Express. I sampled their breakfast bowl, açaí bowl and a cafe latte. Starting with the coffee, the milk was barely steamed and as a result the coffee was just warm. A latte without a hot steamed milk, it's not a good latte. There was no decoration at all, with such a beautiful coffee mugs they have, how they are not taking advantage of that and put some effort on adding a leaf design for instance? That's so easy to do. The coffee quality was average. I would give the coffee a 2 stars. The breakfast bowl was like a Chinese fried rice but with quinoa, kale and ham. And the reason I say that is because the only flavor that came through was a subtle soy sauce. It was a pretty bland dish. Lastly, the açaí bowl, it was the best out of the 3 things I had, but wouldn't come back for it. There are better options in town for Açaí itself. With this said, I would like to come back and try their croissants which looked good on the display as well as the avocado toast which the guest best to me was having and it look good.

This is the best Tuna Poké Bowl around these parts and I can say this because I have tried them all. My main complaint with the Poké Bowl is that restaurants tend to be very stingy with the tuna and that they're flavorless...not here. First of all the ingredients are fresh and you can tell from the very first bite. What sets this place apart is how generous the portions are and especially when it comes to the protein. I'm telling that they added so much tune to this bowl that I actually left some on the side, when in most places l'd have to play treasure hunter and dig deep to find the protein. Then not only are the ingredients fresh but everything has tons of flavor and the crispy onions add the texture most Poké bowls are missing, something that I think is crucial to get that perfect balance on the dish. The sauces they use also compliment the dish well and are not overpowering the ingredients in any way. All said and done, the price is also right and the service is efficient and fast. Definitely my new spot for tuna Poké, but also noticed they're wraps are really big and look delicious.

~wrong labeling of gluten free food on their menu!!! ~staff who does not know how to read the gluten free signs on the menu ~wrong refund ~bad communication between cashier and kitchen

I asked the cashier for gluten free food and I got

  1. the avocado sandwich with the sunny side up egg, it is labeled gluten free on their menu. I asked the server if the bread contains gluten and the answer was yes
  2. So I had to ask for an alternative and I was advised to take the potato with something on it, which was also labeled gluten free, although the plain potato is labeled non-gluten free. I had to explain them that if you have something which contains gluten, it does not become gluten free when adding something to it
  3. So they advised me to take a gluten free tuna wrap, I ate half of it until noticing that it is a tofu wrap which is not gluten free!!!

I asked for a refund including my tip (just paying the meal for my partner), the cashier told me the refund does include the tip, at home I found out it does not.

I wrote an email to the company and never got a reply.

Edit: Carrot Express replied to this post and said I should write them an email so that they can investigate this. This clearly shows that they did not even read this post! I had already sent them an email before and never got a reply! It is sad to see that this company only pretends to be helpful when everyone can see it, but does not look into their email when customers give them honest feedback. It's just about the image, not about actually improving...
