Read moreUnprofessional staff. One particular store member wanted to have a problem with everything that I did. I couldn't find my receipt, she wouldnt do a return. Of course I asked if there was any other way she said no due to the tag fading. No problem, i stayed and found the receipt. She said she wouldn't do it because I purchased outside of the city of Miami. Finally the manager said it was acceptable.
After the return I wanted to make sure a gift card i had previously had did not get mixed up either with her exchange method.
So i waited on line & asked her if she can check the balance just to make sure it did not get mixex up with the zero balance exchange she just did. She gave me push back. The manager came over & told her to do it. I'm not sure why she had a problem with multiple things that were acceptable. Raising the managers blood pressure for no reason. Manager is level-headed & reasonable, no issues with her.
Anytime i make a gift card purchase, the employee hands me the card and receipt together but just before that they will circle the balance with a pen. She did'nt have to but the eye-rolling was completely unnprofessional & unnecessary.
If she needs any sort of approval she can just say I have to ask the manager, not tell me she can't every time & give me pushback for the manager to come over & wonder what the problem is and just to say its acceptable.
Why is the employee giving a hard time about things that are acceptable?
I wasn't going to leave a bad review. But the eyerolling over a gift card balance was pure ridiculousness. Then i realized me finding & providing my receipt as requested earlier and given a problem for that also was...
Read moreMarshalls might look a little hectic on the surface — racks full of surprises, lines that move fast when the team’s in sync — but somehow, it delivers. You find quality if you know what to look for. Employees are helpful, the atmosphere is real, and no one’s pretending to be better than you. It’s honest, fair, and functional.
That’s more than I can say for the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Miller brands itself as a center for innovation, excellence, and leadership — but behind the scenes, it’s a fortress of favoritism, where playing politics matters more than performance. If you’re bright, independent, or ask hard questions, prepare to be frozen out. Faculty protect egos, not students. Talented people are labeled "disruptive" simply for refusing to bow to a broken system.
Marshalls doesn’t need a grant to treat people with respect. Miller needs an intervention. And the worst part? Everyone knows how toxic it is — they just stay quiet to survive.
So yes — five stars to Marshalls. For being more transparent, efficient, and supportive than a so-called top-tier medical institution.
If you’re looking for real value and real people? Go to Marshalls. If you’re looking for meritocracy at Miller?...
