UPDATE: 1st and 2nd week of June 2025 I would write a completely separate review, but Google does not allow me to do that. It only allows me to have one review per google account per restaurant.
Here, I am writing in response to deliveries I got from Uber Eats from Crisppi's in the past week. Both times, I ordered Chicken Wings, and both times, unlike in previous times, the wings came with sauce squirted on top of them after the fact. The first few times I had ordered the wings with BBQ sauce, they were delicious and had been tossed in a pan or something to that effect, such that they were really in the sauce. The last two times I ordered, they just came fried and then had a little bit of BBQ sauce squirted on top of them.
I tried to call the restaurant the second time I was ordering my food to make sure they would actually toss the wings, but they do not have a phone number that can be found online. So I bit the bullet and just ordered via Uber Eats because I really did like the wings when they were tossed, but again had the bad luck of getting them with just some little bits of sauce squirted on them.
You guys should at least offer the option on Uber eats of if people want their wings "squirted" with sauce or if they actually want them tossed.
The atmosphere is lackluster. This used to be Diced and some other place beforehand also. Diced was absolutely awful, and I cannot shake the memory of it. At least the owners of Crisppi's dressed it up. It looks like they re-did the floors, painted the walls, and maybe changed the tables?
Anyhow, it smelled clean, whereas Diced had an odd damp smell.
On to the service, Michael was extremely attentive and helpful. He was really invested in the experience that I was having as a customer. He very clearly explained the menu to me (even though you can't see the menu on any panels or screens in front of the ordering counter). He also clearly explained to me that the chicken is battered in buttermilk with eggs, which I very juch appreciated knowing. They have, sadly, adopted the model of ordering your own things by yourself, unless you request assistance. I, personally, do not enjoy that type of service setup. I was disappointed that they did not have any salad options.
I ordered the honey garlic chicken sandwich meal. I wish I could have had a natural.juice option (orange juice fresh squeezed from a machine, or a natural tropical fruit like guava or passion fruit, made fresh or at the least from some frozen pulp).
The chicken itself was very good. Crispy in all the right ways, juicy, flavorful. The presentation box was very nice, with a not-so-generous yet acceptable portion of beautifully beer-battered fries that were perfectly crispy, hot, fleshy, and delicious. The sandwich came on a large bun which was topped off with what I think was parmesan cheese. Again, very well presented.
However, I do not love tons of sauce on things, and the sandwich was loaded with the honey garlic sauce. It was tasty, but too much sauce for me. I would ask for the sauce on the side next time, or very light sauce. Michael also gave me a Thai Chili sauce which was good, but again, too sauce for me.
I will come back, but only if I am in the mood for a relatively heavy meal, and only if I am with people who are also in the mood for the same. No salad or green type options to soften out the feel of fried food.
It just feels like slightly elevated fast food, which I guess is what it is. But even at Wendy's, McDonald's and Chick-fil-A, you have salad options and other sides besides...
Read moreI would give this place a 5 star review but due to how hot and uncomfortable it was sitting inside I’m taking away two stars.
I came in today for lunch with my Frenchie and was greeted immediately by Michael.
ORDERING: Michael explained the menu throughly and what are the top sellers. He was so friendly and attentive to anything I asked for.
I personally do not like having to order myself and prefer to tell someone what I want to order. You also don’t give the customer an option to pay in cash if they want too.
FOOD: I ordered the 3 piece chicken tenders meal and an order of nuggets for my Frenchie. The chicken was delicious and not greasy which is usually my biggest complaint with fried chicken. The fries were nicely seasoned and cook with a nice portion size for the meal. It satisfied my chicken tender craving.
PACKAGING: The food came out in nice boxes but felt the nuggets could have come in a smaller box. You can tell they spent money on the boxes but other things they bought cheaper such as the straws. I got three different straws and they all cracked in the middle which is annoying to keep having to ask for more.
INSIDE: The place is nicely decorated. I came in on a hot sunny summer afternoon on a Saturday and the place was completely empty.
AC: My biggest complaint about this place is that you can tell the AC wasn’t on/ or set really warm. I had mentioned to Michael that it was hot inside and even my Frenchie was panting since he was so hot. He only pants when he is hot. I was told he would mention it to management but nothing about making it cooler at the moment for the guests. As I am telling him this I am wiping sweat off my forehead.
I was inside maybe 30 minutes and I was sweating by the time my food came out. I hurried up to eat my meal due to how hot and uncomfortable it was sitting inside. When I got up from sitting my shorts were damp from how hot it was inside sitting on the booth.
If I was that hot I’m concerned for the workers having to work in those hot conditions especially working with food. I’m also concerned about if they are sweating while cooking some of the sweat could get onto the food.
When I walked outside it was cooler than inside which should be the opposite in the summertime. This was the prime time of the day when it is extremely hot outside during summer.
I would go back for the food. If I walked inside which it felt hot I would leave and go to one of the places nextdoor since I do not want to be eating and sweating inside.
This is probably why the place had no customers on a Saturday afternoon while all the other places had customers inside.
If they don’t make it cooler inside customers will not want to return no matter how good the food. I hope next time I go it is cooler inside...
