Worst experience in a restaurant, bad attitudes, food is ok, the restaurant was empty of people, had to pay for parking and charged 20% of tips obligatory. This restaurant is known for its roasted duck, and we wanted to try it, so we made a reservation online for five people. We had to pay for the parking because the restaurant is in the lobby of a building and it looked fancy from the outside of the restaurant. When we enter the restaurant a white guy was taking care of us and guiding us to the table the white guy gave us 4 cups of water, but we had five people, so we asked to bring another cup of water with the Chinese guy and the Chinese guy was yelling at the white guy that he didn't look that we have five people and he was blaming it on him. The Chinese guy was rushing us to order like two times. When we started ordering, the Chinese guy took the order, we were going to order short ribs but they didn't have them so we were struggling with what to order he was rushing us again so we were going to order four plates and we ended up ordering three plates and the Chinese guy was saying "only three plates? fine whatever you guys like" and he was rudely looking at us. While we were waiting. we saw that there was only 2 party of people eating in that restaurant. I had a feeling it was because of the service, people wouldn't come in to eat. When the food was ready, it wasn't that bad but it wasn't good. The white guy only checked on us one time. We were trying to eat fast because we wanted to get out of that place so badly. After eating, we were looking for someone to ask for the check and we saw the white guy using his phone for a while finally we saw the Chinese guy pass by and we asked for the check we looked at the check and they charge us 20% of tips without us knowing but we didn't ask why they charge us and we paid, we were too tired to argue about it, we spent $121 in total it wasn't worth it but we learned our lesson, we would never come back to this restaurant and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. This is our last day in Florida and we had a terrible experience in this restaurant which made our trip unpleasant. When leaving the restaurant the Chinese guy was watching us leave, and even though he charged us 20% of the tips he didn't say thank you to us. He was looking at us in a rude way the whole time and we didn't want to say thank you to them either. It was our first time receiving this kind of bad attitude in a restaurant and our first time writing a bad review, so please take our experience as a warning for you guys that in Florida there are a lot of restaurants that are way better than this one and it's not worth it to...
Read moreThe chef at Da Tang Unique uses sugar as a weapon of mass destruction. If you are diabetic he will kill you in one meal, and if you weren’t when you came then you better check again after you leave just as a precaution. On the top of that it is ridiculously expensive for what it is, tasteless, and borderline swindling when it comes to the check.
The restaurant was half-empty on this Valentine Day evening and the hostess still made us wait at the bar. I had a Coconut Dragon Milk cocktail that was excellent. The barman didn’t want to add my drink to my table, and then added a mandatory 18% tip, and asked me if I wanted my change when I gave him a $20 on a $13 cocktail. Let me decide the tip please.
The food was mediocre and over-sugary. The satay chicken skewers were a reconstituted flat chicken nugget with a bland sauce. The Beijing chicken was perfectly cooked, moist and tender, but drenched in a sugary sauce that was overwhelming. The Pumpkin soup with rice dumplings was also saturated with sugar. The assorted dumplings were so small but at $16 they were the only thing edible on this dinner. The fried rice was actually good. They asked us if we wanted dessert; I think it’s because we did survive the onslaught of sugar in the dishes. We declined.
Now the scam. They bring you the check with a mandatory 18% gratuity already added, which is not a big deal. They point to you that you can add some additional gratuity. But if you click on 22% it is actually an additional 22% on top of the 18% that you’ve already paid. Which will actually be more than 42% gratuity. Check twice, and then check again. Better actually to...
Read moreDon't go to this place if you want to be respected as customer!!! I came to this place because of the high rating; however the dining experience turns out to be a total disappointment. I gave $6 to a $81 bill because that's how much I usually pay for a place that does not have any other service rather than place the order and pour water for you (also i am a student and I don't have much more money to pay for more tips). After they took the bill, the manager came back and ask if I can gave more tips. I told them that's how much I usually pay for tips and I asked her how much does she want. The manager said she never had a customer like this and start to brag about customers at New York branch pay a lot of tips. She went away with a fake smile. One minute later, another server brought back the Togo box and on his way bringing the box to me, he swings the bag like there is nothing in there all the way until he reaches my table. When I saw what he did, I asked him why he did that and is that how he treat customers' food, he first pretend that he does not know and ask me when did I see him swing the bag. Then he started to say he is sorry with an attitude that I don't feel he think he is sorry at all. The food in there is totally messy and the seasonings is all over the box because of the swing. The server totally does not deserve the tip I gave him, and the manager was standing right next to the server and she said nothing about it. I wish I could go back and erase the tip to zero.
Also, don't trust the high rating. They can pay ppl to make...
