There are tons of Michelin hatted spots in Japan that instead of touting a bunch of flare and extravagance, they are nestled into train stations.. or tiny markets. Keeping things simple so people can focus on what really matters: the food

Hands down the best sushi in Miami. By a country mile. The fish is flown in multiple days a week.. and the chef (Chef Yasu Tanaka) is highly celebrated.. formerly head chef at Azabu.. and featured in the Michelin guide a bunch
The older Tomo took great care of us. Been here more than once. Each time the quality and taste here is mind blowing
Btw don’t expect any advanced bookings, ridiculously high prices and formal attire here. The restaurant is slotted into the Mia Market food hall and is super casual. Can be in, feast and out in less than 20 mins!

The MIA market should do a better job at cleaning and keeping a better ambiance in general, while this place looked much better a few years ago, it’s just another food hall or a mall food court today, it’s not in par with the designer stores just a few steps away from it. Once you enter, it smells to fabuloso cleaner, no kidding. This is not Sushi Yasu Tanaka’s fault, it’s all on MIA market.
As for the sushi, I loved the quality, freshness and flavors of this nigiri selection as well as the presentation. However, this is not a truly omakase, it’s just a sample plate. There is a different between omakase and a random selection of a la carte nigiris.

I’ll just never eat there if Alonzo is still an employee. Old Review: Came in For lunch and the guy (Alonzo) working there was annoyed that I came a few minutes early. Told me to leave and come back. No big deal… I mean you could do Little better Given it’s a super high end place but no big deal… I came back 3 minutes after they were open… still annoyed Alonzo had to deal with a customer so he said I still had to wait. So I was waiting at the register… they told me to “step back and wait until we’re open” Service is horrible.. Worst ever. Like bro you’re charging 100 for sushi but I felt like I was at McDonalds talking to a minimum...
